Chapter 56
Irene thought, “It’s our first meeting, so I want to make a good impression. She decided it was best to reserve her judgment about Logan’s family until she met them in person.
She said, “Okay. Your dad and I will head into town for groceries. Are you still harvesting fruits? Why don’t you bring your in–laws over now?
Lorraine replied, “Grandma wants to tour the orchards, so we’ll return later. Plus, I have to prepare fruit baskets for Sonia’s company. It’s a busy day.”
Irene emphasized, “No matter how busy you are, you must spend time with your in–laws. There are plenty of workers at the orchards, so let them take care of those tasks.”
The orchards had a bountiful harvest this year, but Irene worried about selling all the fruits,
Fortunately, Lorraine struck gold. With Sonia’s help, she secured a large order that nearly sold out the early–season cherries, and another big order was on the way,
Irene was good with numbers. Although she wasn’t involved in Lorraine’s business anymore, she kept a close eye on the orchards‘ production. She also tracked the purchase prices and monitored daily market rates.
After doing some quick math, she realized that the earnings from these two large orders would cover Lorraine’s expenses for the year.
“I’ll take care of the arrangements, Mom.”
Trene reminded her daughter of a few more things before she hung up. She then hurriedly went grocery shopping with Charles to prepare a nice meal for their in–laws. Logan brought Hestia and Joslin into Lorraine’s collage. “Mom, Lorraine’s place is pretty modest”
Joslin scanned the room. Despite its simplicity, it was spotless and welcoming. Smiling, she said, “She’s your wife, we wouldn’t mind even if it was just a thatched cottage.” Hestared to the driver and said, “Markus, stay outside and keep watch. When Lorraine gets back, come in and join us.”
“okay,” he pled and stood at the door.
With no outsiders around, Hestia smacked Logan’s arm. She couldn’t give him a solid whack without her cane, so she opted for a few light smacks to weather frustration. Logan took it without complaining
“You brat! How could you keep such a big secent from us? Don’t you know we’ve been waiting for you to get married? Instead, you rushed into it, kept it a secret, and told such a bigle. When Lorraine finds out the truth, you’ll be in big trouble”
When the moment arrived, Hestia wouldn’t come to Logan’s defense or feel sympathy for him. Instead, she would just watch and enjoy the drama as it unfolded.
She had lined up several blind dates, but he never showed up to any. Ever since adopting Luna and Finnegan, Logan telt happy just having them around. This only made the elders in his family more concerned about his chances of setting down
Logan explained, “Grandma, I was just going with the flow. Lorraine mistook me for her blind date and assumed I was aconstruction worker. I happened to be dressed like one because I was just at the construction site. When she made that assumption, I just went along with it.
