Unrivaled Dragon Lord novel Chapter 71

Greta fixed her eyes on Maxwell. Her eyes, which were clear and charming, were now brewing complicated emotions.

“You really think so?” Greta asked.

“Of course. I have no idea about what has happened between you and the Sandoval family, but I can’t just stand by the side and see you being bullied by them.” Maxwell straightened his back and replied with a serious look.

Their eyes met in the air. Although Greta appeared to be calm, her heart fluttered.

“Thanks.” Greta looked at Maxwell with complicated feelings and expressed her thanks in a gentle voice.

“No need to thank me. I just did what I should do.” Maxwell waved his hand.

After walking out of the Sandoval Tower, Maxwell went back home by bicycle. He then walked into a bedroom on the second floor, in which Leila Sawyer was having an intravenous drip to help cure her wounds.

“How are your wounds?” Maxwell asked with concern.

“Not bad.” Leila threw a glance at him and replied with a cold look.

“That’s good.” Maxwell nodded and then turned around and walked towards the corridor.

Leila stopped him out of the blue.

Maxwell turned around. Although paleness and weakness were written all over on Leila’s beautiful face, her eyes looked sharp. Leila stared at him and asked, “Can I have a talk with you?”

Maxwell’s expressions froze for a moment. He then curled his lips into a light smile and nodded, “Of course.”

After Maxwell had seated himself, Leila brought up the question, “I just want to ask you, when you went to the hotel to save Ms. Greta, had you really not seen anything?”

Maxwell nodded, “Yeah. What I saw at that time was just corpses that were scattered everywhere. Only then did I find out you and Greta after rummaging through the whole hotel. And you were in a coma back then.”

“How did you manage to save us two since you came there alone?” Leila looked straightly into Maxwell’s eyes. As the saying went ‘the eyes are the windows to the mind’, Leila was attempting to judge whether Maxwell was lying from his eyes.

“I called an ambulance to send you two back and they did first aids for you.” After finishing the words, Maxwell asked with a smile, “Any other questions?”

“Yeah.” Leila replied blandly and her voice suddenly became stern and serious, “I could tell that those people whom I fought against were all masters. And I’m certain that they’re not Chinese.”

Maxwell was stunned, “Why did you say these?”

“They were good at controlling their breathing and voice. If it wasn’t because I have an acute sense of smell, I would have died without knowing. What’s more, the weapons they used were not made in China and I recognized one of them.” Leila paused and fixated her gaze on Maxwell before continuing, “It was a kind of Japanese samurai sword.”

“Why did you say these to me? I know nothing about this.” Maxwell casted a weird glance at Leila.

“You really have no idea about this?” Leila’s gaze suddenly became sharp and it was as if she was trying to see through Maxwell’s mind through his eyes.

“What do you mean? Should I know anything?” Maxwell studied Leila with a dumbfounded look.

Leila stared at him coldly, “Ever since your marriage with Ms. Greta, some weird things that she had never encountered before happened…”

“So you meant that those Japanese were hired by me?” Maxwell sneered.

“I didn’t say it. It was you who say this.” Leila sneered.

Maxwell smiled blandly as if he had forgotten what Leila had said before. He turned around and headed towards the corridor while saying, “As for what Greta is suffering, I would like to use a sentence to comment it: an innocent person gets into trouble because of her wealth. I’m just a live-in son-in-law with a given life expenses of dozens of hundreds per month. Ms. Leila, sometimes you can’t think wildly.”

Leila was shocked, while Maxwell had left the bedroom.

Half a month later, a piece of news quickly went virus among the upper class of Ocean City: An important official of the Beijing government had been suffering from an incurable disease and numerous specialists in Beijing as well as overseas had not found a solution to it. But in the end, a magical doctor in Ocean City saved his life.

People became very curious about this magical doctor. Some local nobles in Ocean City were also so eager to find out the whereabouts of this doctor.

None of them had heard that there was a magical doctor in Ocean City.

On a morning, a black Rolls-Royce galloped at full speed from afar and slowly stopped by the road side.

A man in grey suit got off the car. He then walked to the entrance of a luxurious mansion and spoke to the security guard in a respectful tone, “Excuse me, please tell Ms. Greta that she has an invitation from Lennon Bole.”

The gates of the mansion were opened after a short while. The two men walked through a garden and arrived at a villa.

The door of the villa was opened. It was Maxwell, who was in an apron with a piece of cleaning cloth at hand, opened the door for them. He glanced at the two men and said, “Come in.”

Maxwell, Greta and Harriet were lost in thoughts after the two men finished their words.

“Greta, will we go?” Maxwell smiled and fixed his eyes on Greta.

Greta shot a glance at Maxwell and sneered, “The person he invites is you. Why should I go?”

“Ms. Greta, Mr. Lennon seldom holds a banquet. He invited you guys to come to his banquet today, please do go. Just to give him some respect. Otherwise, other people in the Bole family would gossip about him in the future…” The two men said ingratiatingly.
