At night, Mahoney came to pick up Kaliyah and saw a tall and thin man standing beside her. At a glance, he was quite handsome.
His heart jolted at once. Did this skunk woo his daughter? He strode to them and wanted to figure out who the man was.
When Samuel talked to Kaliyah, laughing, he felt danger behind him. He turned back and saw her father gaining on him.
His eyes widened, and he got a fright. "U, uncle, good evening."
Mahoney glared at him.
Samuel took a look at Kaliyah.
She also didn't know what was wrong with her dad. He was so reckless, unlike the guardian of the city at all. So she also greeted, "Dad, what's wrong?"
Mahoney continued to glare at Samuel.
Samuel took a step back awkwardly. "Hello uncle, I am--"
"Mr. Harvell." Mahoney said with chill in his eyes. "The eldest son of the Harvell's, am I wrong?"
Samuel was sweating profusely. "I am honored that Uncle still remembers me..."
Mahoney eyed him up and down, condescending to him. "Have you been very close to my daughter recently?"
Samuel squinted and smiled. "Uncle, we grew up together, so we're surely close. My true friends in this circle are few."
Tut-tut.
