Chapter 156 

Dylan carried Audrey to the bed and covered her with the blanket. 

He touched Audrey’s hands and feet. They were cold. 

Dylan frowned and looked worried. “Why are your hands and feet so cold?” 

As he spoke, he immediately lifted Audrey’s feet and held them in his palms to warm them up. 

Audrey’s feet were flawless, looking as lustrous as pearls. Dylan held them like they were precious treasures. His palm was huge. His fingers were long and slender, and his knuckles were well–defined, looking elegant. At this moment, holding her flawless feet, they added a touch of intimacy. 

After warming up her feet for a while, his eyes were filled with tenderness. He lowered his gaze and looked at the beautiful and flawless feet in his hands. He could not help but lower his head and kiss them gently. 

Audrey’s gaze quivered slightly. 

Then, she saw Dylan put her feet under his clothes to warm them up. 

Her cold feet pressed against Dylan’s warm abdomen, causing her body to stiffen. She did not expect that Dylan would place her feet on his belly and cover them with his shirt. 

She suddenly wanted to pull her feet back, but Dylan grabbed them. 

His affectionate voice was gentle as he said, “Don’t move. Warm up for a while first. You’ll sleep more comfortably. 

Dylan’s body was very warm, especially when Audrey’s feet were placed on his abdomen, making his body even warmer. 

There was a deep sense of passion in his dark eyes. He liked the way their skin came in contact. 

After her feet warmed up a little, Dylan rubbed his warm palms again. Then, he gently placed his palms on her aching lower abdomen with her pajamas as the barrier, providing just the right amount of comfort. 

“Does it always hurt like this?” Dylan’s voice was low and tender. 

He remembered that in the past, Audrey would not hurt like this during her menstrual cycle. 

“Yes, it started seven years ago,” Audrey replied indifferently. 

Dylan’s hand on Audrey’s lower abdomen paused slightly. His entire body stiffened for a moment. After a long while, he muttered in a hoarse voice, “Baby, I’m sorry!” 

The low murmurs fell into Audrey’s ears one after another. 

Audrey’s expression was calm, as if she had become indifferent to the hurts she had suffered in the past. 

The waves of pain in her abdomen eased a lot under the touch of Dylan’s warm palms. The warmth from her feet made her feel very comfortable, and she lay lazily. 

Due to the loss of blood and the pain, her beautiful face was much paler. At this moment, she looked more frail and delicate. Dylan looked at his most precious treasure in his life as if he was mesmerized. 

Audrey thought that with Dylan around, she would not be able to fall asleep. However, being warmed by the warmth of his body, she actually fell asleep a short while later. 

It was probably because of her period that she looked a bit more frail. 

Dylan kept his hands on her for a long time. It was only after Audrey fell into a sound sleep that he wrapped her up completely in the blanket. His gentle and affectionate eyes landed on her face without blinking- 

Normally, Audrey would not fall asleep when Dylan was around, but today, she was probably truly feeling unwell. 

Dylan lowered his head and gently planted a kiss on the spot between Audrey’s eyebrows. He then kissed her eyes before

leaving the room quietly and going downstairs. 

No one had lived in the villa for a long time, so naturally, there was no brown sugar. After instructing his subordinate to send things over, Dylan went to the study to settle the remaining matters.

He could not help but recall Audrey’s words, which were spoken with nonchalance earlier. 

Yet it still caused a dull pain in his heart. 

After smoking a few cigarettes in a row, Dylan checked the time before stubbing out his cigarette and going downstairs. 

His subordinate had just sent the items over and placed them in the kitchen. 

After Dylan entered the kitchen, he looked up the recipe for making a vegetable smoothie with brown sugar. Then, he started preparing it. 

Audrey did not sleep well. She experienced intermittent, cramp–like pain in her lower abdomen, varying in intensity. Her entire body was a little weak, and there were all kinds of strange scenes in her dreams. 

It was unknown if talking to Troy about her mother during the day was the cause. Audrey actually dreamed of the scene when her mother suddenly left when she was ten years old. 

As soon as her mother left, William married Rebecca. He allowed Rebecca and Sarah to make things difficult for her. 

Once, Audrey forgot to take an umbrella and returned to the Hernandez family’s home, which was now the Holland residence, in the rain. The gate was tightly shut. Not only were William and Rebecca not there, but even the servants were not at home. Audrey waited in the rain at the gate until midnight. In the end, she struggled to move while being wet, walking for a few hours before going down the mountain, 

She was only ten years old back then. She didn’t know who to turn to. The only person she could think of was 

Dylan. 

Dylan was a few years older than her. Back then, he had a poor relationship with his family, so he had long lived alone outside. Subsequently, she had a high fever and took two days off. The tall, handsome, and cold Dylan stayed at home to accompany her and take care of her for two days. 

Perhaps it was at that moment that she fell in love with him. 

Audrey’s emotions were somewhat conflicted when she thought of the handsome, indifferent, clean, and cold Dylan from 

back then 

The door was opened, revealing a tall and slender figure who was as cold and distinguished as ever. His handsome face resembled that of the cold young man from back then as he slowly walked toward the light. 

Audrey clearly understood that this god–like man was once the most revered figure in her heart. He was also her light. 

After her mother left, it was this man who had given her the only warmth, but it was also this man who had personally pushed her into an abyss of endless suffering. 

Audrey’s confused gaze lingered on Dylan for a while in a somber manner.
