Chapter 254 He Never Treated Her That Way
Josephine stared at the unread messages left by Lewis with glimmering eyes.
She bit her bottom lip while tapping on his private chat. The first thing she saw was the message that stated that she got blocked by Lewis instead of the messages he had sent her.
With a frown on her face, Josephine started scrolling upward. The dates and the chat history. allowed her to pry into the bank of information regarding her relationship with Lewis.
The more she read, the wider her
eyes
became.
Naturally, the most eye-catching word happened to be “divorce.” Apparently, Josephine had told Lewis to let her know when she should sign the divorce agreement.
The man who bore the same face as Lewis instantly appeared in the young woman’s mind. She couldn’t believe that she had married a devil like him.
Moreover, she refused to believe she would develop feelings for someone like him. The messages she had sent him in the past were filled with nothing but lowly humility.
Josephine’s breathing started becoming heavy. At the same time, her hand, which was clutching her phone, also began to tremble. She couldn’t believe that she was the one who sent those messages in the first place.
Now, she could vaguely understand the meaning of the illness that Dr. Halliday had mentioned.
Josephine didn’t want to continue browsing the chat history, so she dragged the record all the way down to the present time. Her screen displayed the latest message that Lewis had sent.
“Take your medicine. It’s in the drawer.”
The young woman’s expression warped slightly as she read the simple message. She was more inclined to believe that this man looked exactly like the Lewis she knew. He was definitely not the person she was looking for.
This Whatsapp account couldn’t possibly belong to Lewis.
Josephine closed her eyes and took two consecutive deep breaths before exhaling deeply. Then, she picked up her phone and deleted Lewis’ contact.
After that, she keyed in the phone number that she had carved into her mind a long time
so that she could add Lewis back into her contact list.

However, the search bar came up with nobody with that phone number.
Josephine felt her heart sink at that moment. She made sure that the phone number she keyed in was correct many times in a row, but why couldn’t she add him?
Countless thoughts rushed into her mind, making her head throb once again. The poor
US
woman could only clutch her head as she curled up on her bed.
Lewis was home that night.
Josephine slowly raised her head when she heard the bedroom door being opened. Upon noticing the man shrouded in slush and bits of snow standing at the doorway while wearing an expression that was as stormy as the snowy sky outside, she couldn’t help but feel anxious. Hence, she gripped the edges of her blanket tightly while ducking under it.
The man approached her in wide strides before reaching out to tear the blanket away from her form. Then, he dragged her out of the bed.
Josephine could only stare at him while having mixed feelings about her predicament. She didn’t know why Lewis got mad at her after entering the bedroom. After all, she didn’t do anything to him.
The man’s dark eyes were fixated on her face. He studied her for a very long time before tossing her back onto the bed.
“I see you’re becoming bolder every day.”
That sentence was quite confusing. No matter how long Josephine tried to ponder the
meaning behind those words, she could never figure out what was wrong.
She did her best to suppress the strong wave of dizziness washing over her as she sat on the bed. Then, she gestured, “Can you just let me go?”
Lewis just glanced at her coldly. “Where are you going?”
Josephine hesitated for a moment before signing back, “I want to find Lewis.”
The aforementioned man laughed once again, this time out of frustration.
He sank into the spot next to Josephine before reaching out to grip her cheeks and forcing her to look at him. “Oh? Have you completely forgotten about me? Or is it because you refuse to remember?”
Josephine could recall bits and pieces of the recent incident, causing her to tremble lightly out of fear. She could only hang her head low, not daring to gesture anything for now.
Lewis moved to lift her chin as he leaned into her while murmuring in a low tone, “If you’ve forgotten about it, I don’t mind introducing myself to you again.”
He paused deliberately after saying the word “introduce,” which was terrifying.
Josephine knew very well she couldn’t handle Lewis’ introduction again.
“Surely you’ll learn to remember it once the introductions become more frequent. What do you say?” Lewis’ thumb caressed Josephine’s bottom lip tenderly as he spoke in a gentle tone.

However, the latter could detect a strong hint of threat from his tone.
She
still shook her head before raising her hands to sign. “I don’t know who you are. You’re not the real Lewis.”
“Tell me, how does the real Lewis like?”
A familiar teenage boy popped into Josephine’s mind at that moment, causing her to look temporarily dazed.
Even though she was still staring at Lewis, it was clear that she was staring through him and at a viewpoint that was much further from his physical body. That viewpoint was a place that he could never reach, no matter what.
It was her memory.
Josephine didn’t know how to answer Lewis’ question, so she pushed his hand away before gesturing, “Well, he’s definitely not someone like you.”
A mocking smile curled on Lewis’ lips at that moment.
“What if he’s exactly like me?”
Josephine shook her head, determination burning in her eyes. “No way.”
“Are
you really sure?”
She nodded this time, a look of resolve on her face. She would never forget what sort of person Lewis was, seeing as she had spent so many years with him.
If the young woman could still remember the words Lewis had said to her when she first got married to him, she wouldn’t be gazing at him with only alienation and unfamiliarity dancing in her eyes. There would definitely be a trace of mockery as well.
Lewis stared at Josephine for a very long time. Once he deduced that he was unable to spot the familiar glint in her eyes, he finally released her.
“Give me your phone.”
Josephine pursed her lips as she passed him her phone.
After snatching it away, Lewis opened her Whatsapp and started fiddling with it. Soon, his avatar appeared on her contact list again.
Having added his own contact into her Whatsapp in a shameless manner, the man returned the phone to Josephine. “If you dare delete my contact again-
He needed to pause for a while just to think up a threat. “I’ll definitely part you with a vivid memory.”
The woman suddenly felt chills traveling down her spine.
She looked down at her phone, where Lewis’ avatar was still displayed. It was still a gray
avatar, so she tapped on it and zoomed in. Only then did she notice the picture of two plushies sitting together.
Josephine then showed the image to Lewis before putting down her phone just to sign something. “Where did you take this picture?”
For some reason, Lewis felt that the picture on Josephine’s phone could drag his soul out of his body and lay it bare under the sun for everyone to see.
He stared at the picture while maintaining an expressionless facade, but he ended up staring at it for over a dozen seconds.
Finally, Lewis raised his head to look at Josephine. “What’s this?”
The latter was stunned for a moment. This was his avatar, after all. Why would he ask her that question?
