Chapter 290 Arrogant
Hardington was near the sea. There was a night market by the beach filled with stalls selling various snacks.
Josephine followed behind Lewis as they entered the night market. It was overcrowded.
Lewis tightly held her hand and guided her through the crowd, asking her what she wanted to
eat.
Josephine couldn’t help drooling when she saw all the snacks. It seemed like Lewis had never taken her to such a place before. He used to say that roadside food was unclean.
Now the sun was setting.
Josephine tugged at his hand and pointed to the takoyaki next to them.
“Do you want to eat this?”
Josephine nodded, her eyes fixed on the takoyaki at the stall. They looked delicious.
Lewis took out his phone, scanned the QR code to make the payment, and bought her a portion.
However, her palm was still injured, and she couldn’t exert much force. The takeaway box was also a bit hot. She almost dropped it.
Lewis took the takeaway box from her hand and held it for her. He used the stick to pick up one and put it near her mouth. “Be careful. It’s hot.”
Josephine opened her mouth and ate it. It was indeed hot, and she fanned her mouth continuously.
She seemed somewhat funny, and Lewis watched her with a faint smile at the corner of his mouth.
“Does it taste delicious?”
Josephine struggled to swallow the ball and nodded at him. “It’s delicious. Do you want to try it?”
Lewis shook his head. “No, you enjoy it. Let’s go. There are still many things to eat ahead.”
Looking up at his tall figure, Josephine felt somewhat moved. Although his appearance changed, and he seemed much more mature than before, he still filled her with a sense of security.
In only one day, Josephine’s resistance towards Lewis had already diminished. She had even accepted him as he was.
Josephine couldn’t believe how easily satisfied and gullible she was.
Meanwhile, Lewis would never know that Josephine was actually not looking for the person he was before they turned twenty. In fact, she was longing for the affectionate and doting gaze he had in his eyes for her.
That was all.
Amidst the bustling crowd, Josephine felt these voices were distant from her. In her eyes, there was only that tall figure ahead.
The night market was large, and they had been walking for nearly an hour without reaching the end. Josephine was exhausted.
Holding a large pile of snacks, Lewis found an empty table and sat down with her to rest.
Obviously, Josephine couldn’t finish all the food.
He laid out all the snacks on the table. They bought grilled squid, fish slices, scallops, cakes,
and more.
He also bought a cup of bubble tea for her.
Since it was hard for Josephine to use her hands, Lewis held the skewers for her to bite into.
Whenever she wanted something to eat, he would remove the food from the stick and feed her.
As they indulged in their affectionate display, they attracted the attention of the surrounding crowd. Handsome individuals would always draw people’s gazes wherever they went.
Lewis was one of those guys.
He had a tall and elegant figure with a handsome face. Whenever a lady passed by, they would inevitably glance at him.
After looking at him, their gaze would shift towards Josephine across from him. They were curious about the type of woman who could catch the attention of such a handsome guy.
Of course, some people recognized him. Some discreetly took out their phones and snapped pictures to capture the loving moments of the couple.
Lewis didn’t pay any mind to these things. Even if he noticed someone taking pictures, he remained unfazed. He focused solely on feeding Josephine.
Josephine didn’t have a large appetite and soon felt full. She shook her head, indicating that she couldn’t eat anymore, then held the bubble tea and started drinking it.
“You’re full, but you can still drink the bubble tea.” Lewis casually cast her a glance.
Biting the straw, Josephine playfully blinked at him, and her eyes turned into two little
crescent moons.
Lewis caught sight of the joy in her eyes and was momentarily captivated.
It had been quite some time since he last saw her smiling like that.
Noticing that Lewis was distracted, Josephine set her bubble tea down. She signed, asking what they should do with the remaining food.
Lewis snapped to his senses and casually replied, “Just leave it.”
Josephine thought it was a waste.
Lewis stood up and took her hand, leading her outside.
The wind at the seaside was strong, messing up Josephine’s hair and obscuring her vision.
While passing by a photo studio, Lewis suddenly stopped in his tracks. He turned to Josephine and asked, “Shall we take a few photos?”
Josephine raised her head and looked at the words “Photo Studio” on the sign. She looked at Lewis in surprise.
He had already pulled her inside.
It was a self-photo studio with booths that offered self-taken shots. After entering, one could scan a QR code and take ten photos for 40 dollars.
After paying, Lewis picked up the remote control and leaned on Josephine’s shoulder before asking her to look at the camera.
However, he was too tall, and the camera could only capture his neck. He had to squat down. slightly and press his cheek against hers to take the photos.
Josephine felt somewhat awkward at first, but after taking a few shots, she relaxed and started making various poses in front of the camera.
She did the V pose, heart pose and even made funny faces.
Lewis looked at her mischievous expressions on the screen and couldn’t help but laugh. The camera took a photo of Josephine making a heart shape above her head while he rested his chin on her shoulder, smiling.
When the photo was captured, Josephine also caught a glimpse of his smile. Although it wasn’t very radiant, she could see his bright white teeth.
Suddenly, Josephine felt as if time had reversed along with her memories, bringing her back to seven years ago, to the moments they had shared.
He used to smile at her just like this.
