What Separates Me and You novel Chapter 349

Lewis scoffed. "These are just petty tricks. First, take the content off the internet. Next, get someone to keep a watch on Quintin. Don't let him get away again."

Conrad nodded. "Yes, sir."

Lewis leaned back and pulled out a cigarette. "I'll meet him tomorrow."

Thunder crashed, startling Josephine from her sleep. Gasping, she stared at the ceiling, her forehead covered in sweat.

She held tightly onto the sheets, her eyes fixed on the white ceiling for a long while.

When it had finally quietened, she immediately got up from bed and searched for Lewis.

She opened the door, her heart in her mouth as she stood before the silent corridor.

Just as she was about to go downstairs, Conrad's voice rang out behind her. "Madam?"

Josephine paused and turned.

"Madam, why are you awake at this hour?"

He looked at his watch; it was almost midnight.

Josephine tilted her head. She stared at him for several moments before eventually recognizing him. She signed, "I'm looking for Lewis."

He couldn't understand her, but he identified the word Lewis. He hurriedly replied, "He's in the study. Why are you going that way?"

Josephine blinked and ignored Conrad as she darted for the study.

She opened the door and saw Lewis. Her face lit up, and she walked over instantly.

Lewis was reading some documents on the sofa.

He instinctively looked up and saw Josephine running toward him, taking long strides. When she was near enough, she threw herself into his arms before he could react.

He lifted his arms to hold her and lowered his eyes to look at her. "Why are you still awake?"

She gazed up at him with puppy eyes for several moments before signing, "There's thunder outside. I'm afraid."

Lewis hugged her and sat her on his lap. "It's only thunder. There's nothing to be afraid of. Why are you bare-footed?"

Josephine shook her head, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck. She was terrified of thunder and used to have at least a maid beside her whenever there was thunder. However, she was alone when she woke up just now. How could she be unafraid?

He looked at her with resignment, then patted her head. "Should I accompany you, then?"

Her eyes were full of smiles as she nodded vigorously.

Lewis carried her as he stood, her arms still around his neck. He placed her legs around his waist. Josephine dangled off him like a monkey.

He carried her back to the bedroom and placed her on the bed.

Josephine clutched his sleeve, refusing to let go just in case he left her.

He saw through her intentions. "I promised to accompany you. I won't run away."

She stared intently at him.

Lewis couldn't do anything about it. "How am I supposed to undress if you don't let go?"
