When Her Death Couldn't Break Him (Cecilia and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 1976

Chapter 1976 The Importance Of Money
The manager knew all about Denise's family situation. He let out a deep sigh.

“Denise, you're a good kid,” he told her. “But your parents' condition is like a bottomless pit. Even if you had a fortune, it might still not be enough. You should think about stopping. Save your money and make sure your folks live comfortably.”

But Denise shook her head. “I hear what you're saying, and you're not wrong. But I just can't do it.”

She couldn't bear the thought of stopping treatment. She couldn't just watch them die. As long as there was even the slightest hope, she had to try everything to keep them alive.

“All right then. I'll have the finance department wire you a hundred thousand. Will that be enough for now?”

Denise nodded quickly, her eyes welling with gratitude. “That's more than enough. Thank you.”

The manager gave another sigh. “You don't have to thank me. We're all working far from home. Helping each other is the right thing to do.”

“I'm going to get back to work now, Sir,” Denise said.

She didn't know how else to repay his kindness, except to work even harder and not let him down.

“Go ahead.”

“Okay.”

Denise left the office. Shortly after, Magnus walked in.

The manager shook his head. “Such a great young woman. It's a shame she's being weighed down by her family.”

“Really?” Magnus asked.

“Your friend Denise, don't you know her situation?” the manager asked with a frown.

He's so heartless. After all the help Denise has given him, he doesn't know the first thing about her.
