When Love Is a Lie (Whitney and Damian) novel Chapter 61

Damian had just finished lunch with a client and was heading downstairs when he spotted the scene in the lobby not far off. He could also hear snippets of their conversation.

Billy followed his gaze and heard Rachel asking Whitney to apologize since she was the mistress.

"Mr. Howard, Ms. Spencer is being blamed. Should we—"

Damian raised a hand, cutting him off. "No rush. It's not time yet."

"I heard the whole company group chat has been speculating about your relationship with Ms. Spencer because of that photo. Right now, everyone thinks Ms. Spencer is interfering in your relationship with your fiancée."

Billy, Damian's personal assistant and closest confidant, wasn't in the company group chat himself, but he had heard the rumors. Damian's gaze stayed fixed on Whitney as he murmured, "Well done on this matter."

Billy dared not take credit. He quickly explained, "Amy already resigned. No one knows where the photo came from."

Billy was aware that Damian hid a cold and calculating nature behind his seemingly gentle manner. However, he never expected Damian would use these tactics on his own fiancée.

That day, Damian pretended to need Whitney to deliver a contract. Then, he arranged for someone to snap a photo. Amy, who worked in administration and was also Billy's girlfriend, posted the photo in the company group chat, sparking today's confrontation.

Damian said nothing more as he watched the scene unfold.

Whitney let out an incredulous laugh, "Yes, the other woman should apologize. Not only that, they should be judged for their immoral actions. Interfering in someone's relationship is such a shameful act. I believe even her parents would feel embarrassed of her."

She stepped closer to Rachel. "Don't you agree, Ms. Yanes?" She emphasized Rachel's last name.

If Rachel's parents were still around, Whitney wondered how they'd feel about their daughter now.

Rachel's expression soured as she avoided Whitney's gaze.

One of the bystanders spoke up, "So, you know what you did was wrong, then? Why don't you apologize to Rachel? She's the future CEO's wife. She may be gracious enough to ignore you, but I can't stand seeing you trying to walk all over her."

Whitney ignored them and turned to ask Sophie if she was done eating.

"Even if I'm not, I don't want to stay here listening to all this trash," Sophie said, grabbing her bag.

Seeing they were about to leave, someone stepped in to block them.

"You're not going anywhere until you apologize. I've recorded this, and if you don't apologize, I'll post this video in the work group chat."

The person held up their phone, recording Whitney's face.

Whitney raised an eyebrow. "You want a recording? Then listen carefully. I'm not Mr. Howard's mistress. As for who is... Rachel, would you like me to say?"

Rachel flinched and quickly tried to talk her way out. "Whitney, I don't want to make this difficult. If you don't want to apologize, fine. Just stay away from Mr. Howard and I'll let this slide."
