When Love Is a Lie (Whitney and Damian) novel Chapter 87

Whitney arrived at the Phoenix Hotel right at seven o'clock. She opened the door to the private room and froze in her tracks.

Westley was there, engaged in conversation with Damian.

She'd thought it would only be her father here. She hadn't expected Damian as well.

"Whitney." Damian rose from his seat and pulled out the chair beside him.

Westley reached over, guiding her inside from the doorway. "Damian ordered all your favorite dishes. Come, have a seat."

Their attitude was as if nothing had ever happened, as if it was just a simple family gathering.

Whitney had no desire to sit next to Damian, but Westley firmly pushed her down into the chair.

"Hungry?" Damian asked softly, picking up some food with his spoon and placing it on her plate.

Whitney didn't react, her face remained cold and expressionless.

After a while, she finally spoke. "Did you forget our agreement?"

They had agreed to break off the engagement, each promising to convince their families. But now, here they were, as if he'd changed his mind.

Besides, she still had the video evidence of him and Rachel.

When she'd received that final, threatening message from her father, she'd decided that as long as Damian agreed to break off the engagement, her father's objections wouldn't matter.

Damian's voice held a mix of helplessness and sincerity. "You know I only agreed because I had no choice. I truly want to marry you."

At that, Westley joined in, acting as if he was the peacekeeper.

"Whitney, Damian understands he made a mistake, and he's promised me that after you're married, he won't look at another woman. Don't hold onto things that will only hurt your relationship in the long run. I had it all taken care of."

Westley's words were pointed, and Whitney understood immediately.

"You tampered with my computer?" Whitney's voice shook with anger, disbelief written across her face.

As if realizing something, she hurriedly checked her phone.

Just as she feared, the video in her phone was gone.

She recalled her phone had frozen for a moment on the way here, but she'd brushed it off, thinking it was just a phone storage issue.

"Dad! You…"Whitney was so furious she could barely speak. She was in shock that her own father would side with someone else like this.

That video had been her last bargaining chip.

She had even hired a skilled hacker, aware of the people around Damian, and had set up a high-level firewall to protect the video from tampering.

But it was all useless.

Feigning innocence, Westley looked at her. "You disappeared without a word, so I had no choice but to go to Coaska Heights to find you, and to remove anything that might harm your relationship. Was I wrong to do that?"

Long ago, Westley had registered his fingerprint for her apartment door, saying it was so he could drop off home-cooked meals and check on her as needed.

After she moved in with Damian, he had mostly left it alone.
