Whitney tried to explain, but Helena didn't want to listen to any of it. She turned to leave.
"Can't you just let me explain?" Whitney asked as she chased after her.
"Is there any good excuse to cheat?" Helena glared at her, feeling like she'd been let down. "Gavin found an excuse for his betrayal back then, and you're doing it too! Why are you all cheating on the people who love you?"
A day before her wedding, Helena had returned home from a business trip and caught Gavin naked with another woman in their home.
From that day onward, Helena had flitted between men. However, she was a principled woman and never went for married men or men in a relationship.
Looking at the heartbreak on Helena's face, Whitney decided to come clean.
"It's your brother… He has another woman."
Helena's expression twisted into one of shock. "My brother? How could that be? He loves you so much! You guys grew up together!"
This was the image that Damian had crafted for himself. No one would believe that he'd cheated on Whitney.
Whitney didn't say anything.
In an instant, Helena knew that she was telling the truth.
"But you both don't seem to have any problems. And you're getting married to him next month…"
Earlier, she'd joked with Damian about "borrowing" Whitney, and he'd indulged her and asked her to return Whitney as soon as possible.
Whitney sighed softly and said, "I also thought that we would have a happy marriage. But I found out that he was cheating on me two weeks ago."
"With who?" asked Helena.
Whitney paused for a moment before saying, "Rachel Yates."
Helena's eyes widened. She was so dumbfounded that she couldn't get a word out.
How could she not be floored by this? Damian was Rachel's uncle. Even though they weren't biologically related, they had played those roles for more than a decade.
Besides, the Howards had already regarded Rachel as a member of their family a long time ago. Rachel also called him "Uncle Damian" all the time.
"R-Rachel? Are you sure it's her?" Helena stammered out after getting over her shock.
Her gentle, excellent brother, Damian, had cheated on his fiancée with his niece. It was unbelievable.
"Yes."
The only difference between Helena and Whitney was that Whitney hadn't found them in bed.
Whitney continued apologetically, "I'm sorry I kept this from you for such a long time."
Helena composed herself and waved her hand. "I understand. You were probably worried that I'd be caught between a rock and a hard place when it came to you and Damian."
