For some reason, Whitney felt a little uncomfortable.
It was nothing out of the ordinary for Noel to date someone and get married. What did it have to do with her anyway? She wasn't related to Noel, after all.
Madelyn nodded with a smile and said, "Yes, we're looking for a suitable woman."
Elijah replied, "Damian is getting married next month. You're his cousin, so you can't fall behind him too much. It's time for you to give birth to the next generation of Howards."
Then, he added, "You should listen to your mom. If you find someone suitable, don't pass up the opportunity. Just marry her."
"Don't worry, Grandpa," Noel responded emotionlessly.
Whitney felt as though her heart was being weighed down.
Noel probably couldn't decide who he married for himself. There were too many nuances involved in his marriage. It was like a business deal. Whether or not a profit would be made needed to be taken into account.
It was the same for Whitney.
After their meal, Beckham left with Madelyn.
Helena needed to handle a case at the firm, so she left soon after.
Jenny took a phone call. She had a date with her friends, so she went back to her room to change.
Derek had a habit of playing with his budgie every day after lunch.
Whitney also wanted to head home. However, Derek was nowhere to be seen. She had no idea where he was. It would be inappropriate for her to just leave.
Thus, she was the only one left with Damian's parents in the huge living room.
Samuel asked her about what her father was doing as well as her mom's condition.
Whitney answered his question one by one. Then, Samuel received a call. He left the living room as well.
After that, Emily, Damian's mom, took a sip of her tea and turned to Whitney.
"After marrying him, you'll be Mrs. Howard. Stop going to work. Stay home and take care of Damian. You shouldn't make a spectacle of yourself in public.
"Try to have children as soon as possible. Damian is the future leader of the Howard Group. He mustn't be barren. You need to give birth to more children to bring good fortune to our family."
She positioned herself as Whitney's future mother-in-law and acted all high-and-mighty.
Whitney wasn't her ideal daughter-in-law. Her background and status was a far cry from that of the Howards.
However, she did not have the guts to speak out against the woman Elijah had chosen. She could only accept it unwillingly.
Emily thought that Whitney was rebelling against her and looking down on her by taking advantage of the fact that she was Damian's fiancée.
