Chapter 113 Accepting Punishment
Ancestral hall.

Two entrances, big and small, located within the Baldwin’s mansion grounds, at the highest point of the terrain.
The high beams were painted with gold paint every year. Above the shrine, there were twin dragons playing with a pearl, symbolizing the status and power of the family.
In front of the altar, Xander, who had always maintained a dignified composure, showed his anger for the first time.
He stared coldly at Caden in the center of the ancestral hall and asked, “You have disappointed me greatly this time! Who exactly leaked the contents of the contract?”
aden’s profound contours were faintly tinged with detachment, with a torrential downpour pouring down from the sky behind him, yet there was a chilling desolation about him as if the storm had ceased to exist.
“No one, it was my

carelessness that allowed the Powell family to take advantage.”
Xander glared angrily, his face trembling slightly, clearly not the answer he wanted.
There must be a scapegoat for this matter!
How can we explain to our fellow tribesmen, to the outside world, if we don’t use the past as the reference tense?

Xander took a deep breath and insinuated,“Has Beatrice been to the Baldwin Group?”
It was very simple to solve this matter.
The humble Beatrice, driven solely by self–interest, betrayed the Baldwin family who had nurtured her for many years, in pursuit of money.
When it was said, everyone would only reprimand Beatrice’s behavior of being an ungrateful bastard and sympathize with the Baldwin family being betrayed.
No one would ever put the key to this matter on a business mistake.
As long as Caden spoke…
“I didn’t go.” Caden said coldly.
Upon hearing the words, Xander forcefully slammed the altar, causing the atmosphere in the entire temple to become tense.
The father and son exchanged a glance, and Xander’s eye twitched twice in anger before he turned around.
He took three incense sticks from the table and said sternly, “Since that’s the case, you should also know the consequences of doing something wrong.”
“Um.”
Caden expressionlessly unbuttoned.
Keith’s face turned serious as he expressed his concern, “Mr. Caden.”
“Shut up.”

Caden threw the jacket he had taken off into his hands, then unbuttoned his shirt, revealing his fense muscles.
Xander’s bodyguard took out a whip from the cabinet, dipped it in the rainwater that had fallen into the courtyard, and with a slight pull, it made a hair–raising sound.
Xander bowed to the shrine, and as soon as the incense was inserted into the censer, the whip was raised and fell on Caden’s body,
Deep bloodstains appeared instantly,
Xander turned his back on him, waiting for him to lower his head and apologize.
But after enduring ten lashes, Caden was covered in sweat yet did not utter a single word.
Xander stood with his hands behind his back, furrowing his brows deeply, and threateningly said, “Caden, I promised you that if this collaboration succeeds, I will transfer
your mother’s hares
to you. But now, it
it seems that I
that I can only continue to hold them.”
When mentioning his mother, Caden lowered his gaze, and a trace of blood stained his lips.
Xander, seeing that he remained silent, became so angry that he signaled to the bodyguard.
The bodyguard hesitated for a moment, but dared not disobey. He could only grit his teeth and forcefully raise the whip.
“Stop!”
Ryan rushed in with people and immediately shielded Caden.
“Dad, Caden just recovered from a serious illness. If you continue to hit him like this, someone will die. You blamed him for just hitting him a couple of times, but Mom’s memorial tablet is still there. She almost gave her life to give birth to Caden. You can’t treat her like this!”
Xander’s expression was slightly moved when Caden’s mother was mentioned.
Xander’s expression
“Get out of here, all of you!”
Ryan immediately looked at Keith, and the two of them put a coat on Caden and helped him walk- outside.
As Ryan walked to the door, he glanced at the bodyguard holding a whip and nodded slightly.
Today, the Powell family intercepted the cooperation. Ryan knew that something was going to happen, so he warned the bodyguards around Xander in advance.

Back in Caden’s own yard, Brend had just arrived.
Looking at the bloodstains dripping onto the ground, he furrowed his brows and said, “Hurry up and let me examine it.”
Caden silently lay down on the bed as soon as he entered the room.
Brend lifted the coat covering him and took a deep breath.
Although the bodyguard intended to go easy, the first three lashes definitely required a lot of effort.
Especially when the whip got wet, it would smash into the flesh like a thorn. How come you got beaten up again when everything was fine? It was because of Beatrice and you…” Brend paused, instantly realizing something.“It’s her again, isn’t it? Is she specifically here

to torment you?”
Caden gave him a cold glance.

Even Ryan, who was standing beside them, coughed twice, expressing his dissatisfaction with his evaluation of Beatrice.
Brend closed his mouth awkwardly, put on gloves, and cleaned the wound. Finally, he was able to breathe a sigh of relief.
“Except for three relatively deep wounds, the rest are not serious. The person who hit you also deliberately avoided vital areas. Just rest and you’ll be fine.”
After speaking, he took an anti–inflammatory medicine from the medicine box and handed it to Caden.
When Caden got up to take his medicine, he heard the continuous vibration of Ryan’s phone by his ear.
“Ryan, answer it.”
Ryan took out his phone and glanced at it, saying indifferently, “It’s not important. Are you feeling better?”
“Um.”
Caden sat still, with a pale and gloomy face, giving off a distant and unapproachable vibe. Brend packed up the medicine box and stood up, saying, “Mr. Ryan, let him rest first, let’s go ahead.”
Ryan hesitated to speak, but in the end, he nodded and left the room with the others. When Brend went downstairs to leave, he called out to Ryan.
“Mr. Ryan, the one who unties the bell is the one who tied it.”
“Ah… I knew it.”
Ryan shook his head and left.
When he went back, he happened to see Jessie and Oscar directing the servants to pull the suitcases outside.
As soon as he thought of Caden’s appearance, he became furious.
“Stop!”
The two of them turned around.
Jessie immediately put on a faint smile and said, “Brother, Oscar and I plan to stay at my house for a few days.”
“What?

The readers' comments on the novel: When Love Turns to Ashes (Beatrice and Caden)
I hope the admin team can look into this. It’s a long winded story with the same old plot on repeat. So now that Beatrice has found out she’s pregnant, no doubt she’ll once be at risk of people wanting to ensure she miscarriages since it’s Cadens. Doesn’t help shes also engaged to Odin....
The last 70 chapters are repeated. It goes back to the storyline of Madeline and Selina. Why’s is that?...
