The fruit knife was taken by Beatrice from the fruit tray on the coffee table in the living room. 

She had a premonition that Caden would come. 

He did come, but her knife was blocked by him.

Beatrice’s eyes were bloodshot, filled with hatred at the bottom, but her face was ashen, except for biting her lips hard.

Caden stared at her, his eyes filled with deep mystery. 

Just as Beatrice was about to release her strength, her hand loosened and the fruit knife fiercely slashed across her palm, blood gushing out. 

Beatrice suddenly froze.

Beatrice threw away the fruit knife and turned around to leave. 

The person behind her grabbed her by the back of her neck with one hand, turned her around, forcefully pulled her towards him, and planted a domineering kiss on her. 

Beatrice stared wide–eyed and pounded him hard, but he remained unmoved, even kissing he more intensely. 

Rainwater hung on the tips of his hair, sliding down his cheeks. His eyes were misty, as if veiled by water vapor, and also obscured 

by a deep fog, concealing the chaos she couldn’t comprehend. 

Until the rain grew heavier and colder, pelting down on the two of them, Beatrice shrank back as the man in front of her, with his lips close, half choked her neck, both urgent and restrained. 

“If one is not crazy, , how could…” 

Pitter–patter, the rain heavily pounded on the umbrella, but Beatrice didn’t hear anything. She just raised her gaze and glanced at the umbrella suddenly extending above her head. 

Keith held a large umbrella for the two of them and said with concern, “Mr. Caden, the autumn rain is chilly, and your previous illness hasn’t been long gone. Ms. Lindsey also has a weak

Caden frowned as he looked at the drenched Beatrice and said, “Get in the car.”

With a turn of his gaze, he looked at Beatrice huddled in the corner. 

She buried her face in her knees, revealing her slender white neck, with a mist of water vapor clinging to her skin, like a peeled lychee, glistening like jade. 

But when he saw her trembling hand, his gaze deepened a bit. 

Caden reached out to grab her wrist, but she stiffened her arm and resisted him. Beatrice clutched her clothes, hiding the wound, and endured the pain as she said, “Drop me off at the subway station ahead, I can make my own way back.”

She was about to say that she had come, but Caden, without even looking up, opened another bottle of saline solution and rinsed his hands again.
