Chapter 20 Everything Is Just a Game 

“It’s Xander. 

“It was he who firmly believed in my innocence, which is why he arranged this press conference 

for me. 

“Although I had no blood relation with the Baldwin family, they treated me as their own and would never harm me. 

“Thank you, thank you so much.” 

Beatrice bowed deeply to Xander. 

Even though Xander was still angry, he couldn’t say a word and could only smile and nod at the crowd. 

But it had to be said that this move quickly resolved the public opinion crisis of the Baldwin family. 

The press conference ended soon. 

Beatrice hurriedly caught up with Gracie, expressing her gratitude, “Thank you. If you hadn’t found the evidence against Abdiel, I… I don’t know what would have happened…” Gracie asked her colleague to put the person in the car first and then looked at Beatrice with a troubled expression.. 

“It wasn’t me. It was Mr. Caden’s idea. Those girls were all found by Mr. Caden’s people. It only took one night to find them. Before we approached them, no one wanted to provoke the Jimenez family.” 

“What did you say?” Beatrice was stunned, her breath catching in her throat. 

“Abdiel’s arrest and sentencing are inevitable. The Jimenez family won’t be able to protect him. 

this time.” 

Gracie’s tone was heavy with meaning. 

She seemed to be implying that Caden’s goal was to make Abdiel face multiple charges, not just the attempted rape. 

Gracie patted her shoulder and said, “I think it would be better for you to talk to Mr. Caden There seems to be some misunderstanding between you two.” 

By the time Beatrice regained her senses, Gracie had already left. 

She turned around and happened to see Caden coming out. After a moment’s hesitation, she was about to approach him when she saw Caden step aside to give way to Xander. Beatrice instinctively hid behind a nearby plant. 

Through the leaves, Xander seemed visibly angry. 

Caden stood in the play of light and shadow, silently lighting a cigarette. The smoke swirled around him, his eyes half–closed, deep and cold, void of emotion. 

Xander got straight to the point. “Did you do this?” 

Caden nodded, and a puff of smoke curled from his lips. He said lightly, “Reconciliation only selves things temporarily. I don’t like being coerced. Beatrice caused a mess, and the Jimenez family’s chaos worked in my favor. If I can take the bigger gains, why settle for the smaller ones?” 

Chapter 20 Everything is Just Come 

He lowered his gaze to tap off the ash, his expression unreadable through the haze, Upon hearing this, Xander nodded. 

“You did quite well with this move, but Madelynn…” 

“It has nothing to do with her. She won’t be in trouble,” Caden said in a deep voice. 

“If you’re protecting her, I’ll go along with it. But Beatrice dares to scheme against me. She can’t be left alive.” 

“Dad, there’s no need to waste energy on a meaningless person.” 

Caden continued to smoke slowly, his tone emotionless. 

Xander glanced at him and was very satisfied with his calmness. 

“Alright, I’m leaving.” 

Okay.” 

After seeing off Xander, 

Caden stood with his back to Beatrice, smoking. 

Beatrice leaned against the wall, covering her mouth, and curled up her body, her face pale. 

So, she was still just a pawn in Caden’s hands, and he was trying to protect Madelynn. Thinking about the meaningless person Caden mentioned, Beatrice began to tremble uncontrollably, staring blankly at the wall. 

She didn’t know how long it had been before Caden left. 

Beatrice forced herself upright, walking slowly back to the hall. 

At that moment, Madelynn seemed to have suffered immense grievance, her eyes red and puffy, nestling into Caden’s embrace. 

She even glanced at Beatrice provocatively. 

It seemed to say that no 

matter what happened, Caden would always protect her 

Beatrice walked up to the two people with a straight back and handed the USB drive to Caden. 

“Uncle Caden, inside is a conversation between Madelynn and Kyle. I think you will be very . interested.” 

Madelynn’s face turned pale. As Caden raised his hand, she reached out to grab the USB flash drive, but accidentally dropped it on the ground. 

Finally, her high heels accidentally crushed it. 

With an apologetic expression, she said, “Sorry, Mr. Caden, I didn’t mean to. I just wanted to hand- 

it to you.” 

Beatrice looked at the shattered USB drive and turned to leave. 

Whether Caden looked at the content or not didn’t matter; what mattered was that Madelynn was now guilty. 

Everyone had seen it, and that was enough. 

As she walked out of the hall, Monica followed her. 

“Are you crazy? You just handed the evidence to Madelynn.” 

Mom, do you really think we can protect the evidence? Beatrice asked in response.

Chapter 20 Everything is dust a Game 

“Why didn’t you just play the audio directly? Everyone would have seen Madelynn’s true colors. 

“Don’t you plan to live with the Baldwin family and Ryan anymore? Do you think Mr. Caden will let us go?” 

Monica had greatly underestimated Caden’s feelings for 

She had died because of that very relationship in her previous life. 

Madelynn in the past 

Caden had already protected Madelynn in front of Xander, so how could he possibly let them ruin Madelynn’s image? 

They couldn’t afford to provoke Caden. 

Monica let out a deep sigh and said, “I wonder what kind of luck Madelynn has, but she managed to catch Caden’s eye.” 

“Mom, I’m leaving.” 

Beatrice didn’t want 

to hear more and walked straight towards the door. 

Outside, the autumn wind howled. The gusts of wind cut through her clothes, the cold seeping into her thin body, making her feel like she could barely move. 

She looked up at the sun, and a wave of dizziness hit her, causing her to collapse. 

Before Beatrice could fall to the ground, someone caught her from behind and forcefully lifted 

her into a car. 

When she saw the face of the person, she struggled to get out of the car. 

“Let go of me! Go away!”
