Chapter 108 Getting Both Divorce and Marriage
Before heading to the courthouse, Elissa stopped me and carefully applied bright red lip gloss.
She whispered, “You should dress up nicely on such a good day. Alright, go on!”
Satisfied with her work, Elissa waved me off with a smile.
couldn’t help but laugh, feeling a bit lighter despite my heavy heart.
Yes, this was what I had been waiting for.
I pulled myself together and left. When I arrived at the courthouse, it was exactly 2 PM.
After waiting for Christopher countless times over the past three years, I wasn’t willing to wait any longer.
But as I got out of the car and looked around, there was no sign of Christopher. Once again, I was left waiting for him.
Fortunately, he didn’t keep me waiting too long.
A few minutes later, a tall figure emerged from a black Maybach, exuding a powerful and sharp aura. His expression
was cold and clearly displeased.
Ever since we started the divorce process, Christopher’s true nature had become more apparent.
Gone was the gentleness; he didn’t even bother to pretend anymore.
But it wasn’t just Christopher who got out of the car. Evelyn, holding onto Brenda, followed behind him, completely unaware that Christopher already knew about Evelyn’s little secret.
Christopher left Evelyn and Brenda behind and walked straight to me without pausing. “Aren’t you eager for the divorce? Why aren’t you hurrying up?”
“Got it.” I glanced at Evelyn and Brenda behind him and smiled. “So you’re planning to get both the divorce and marriage today? You’re really going all out to make sure your father doesn’t commit bigamy.”
Christopher’s eyes narrowed, his voice flat. “I never knew you could be so sarcastic.”
I mocked, “I used to like you.”
I liked him so much that I lost myself,
I couldn’t bear to say a harsh word to Christopher.
Christopher’s body stiffened slightly, but he didn’t stop walking. His eyes were unreadable. “Do you not like me at all
now?”

His tone was so casual, as if he were asking if I was hungry.
Caught off guard by the question, I lowered my eyes to hide my emotions. As we walked into the courthouse, I said, “I’ll go contact the staff.”
“No need.” As soon as Christopher finished speaking, a middle–aged man in a suit came over from the office area, saying, “Mr. Valence, please.”
“Alright. Christopher nodded slightly and looked at me. “Weren’t you in a hurry? I’m saving you some time.”
I smiled. “I never realized you were so considerate.”
Unlike Christopher’s earlier sarcasm, I was genuinely complimenting him.
In the past, Christopher’s gentleness and thoughtfulness were never sincere; they were just superficial acts.
He never cared about my real needs.
I never expected to experience this kind of consideration during our divorce. It was quite nice.
The middle–aged man led Christopher and me into an office, collected the documents we brought, and handed us the papers we needed to sign. Soon we would be divorced.
Everything was going smoothly.
If it weren’t for a phone call Christopher received, today would have been the day I finally got my freedom.
Just as we were about to sign the papers, Christopher’s phone started ringing incessantly. He answered, “Speak.”
After a few seconds, whatever was said on the other end made Christopher abruptly stand up. He looked at the middle- aged man, his voice icy. “We’re not doing this today!”
His tone was so cold and heavy that it was intimidating.
With that, he turned to leave.
Something urgent must have come up.
I stood up as well, a strong sense of foreboding in my heart. “Why? We’re almost done. Are you going back on your word again?”
“Why?” Christopher turned to look at me, his eyes filled with coldness. Each word was spat out through gritted teeth. “Don’t you know why, Hope Royston? You accuse me of going back on my word, but you’re no better.”
Christopher’s fury was almost overwhelming.
I didn’t understand and asked, “What do you mean I should know?”
Christopher’s face was sharp and intimidating. Stop pretending.

I looked at Christopher in confusion, anger rising within me. “Are you crazy? I didn’t do anything. What am I
pretending?”
“You know you’re wrong but won’t admit it.” Christopher’s lips curled into a sneer, his expression growing even scarier. He picked up his phone, tapped it a couple of times, and showed it to me. “Look, this is your doing.”
I was stunned for a moment and immediately looked at Christopher’s phone screen. It was a news article published
just a couple of minutes ago.
When I saw the content, it felt like I was struck by lightning!
It was a freshly released scandal involving Charlic and Evelyn.
There was even a video attached.
The video’s thumbnail was of the backyard of the Patel family from last night.
I recognized it almost instantly, a shiver running down my spine. I reached out to tap it, wanting to confirm if it was the one I had filmed, but the video had already been taken down,
It was blocked.
Moreover, someone had dug up sightings of Christopher and Evelyn together.
The online comments were extremely harsh.
Christopher sneered, “Got nothing to say?”
My mind was a bit muddled, but I still denied it. “It wasn’t me, Christopher. I’m not that stupid. Even if I were to release it, I wouldn’t do it now.”
Honestly, I did plan to release it.
But not now.
At the very least, I would wait until I had the divorce certificate in hand before pulling this stunt.
“Then can you tell me how this video ended up in someone else’s hands?”
Christopher stared at me. “Or are you saying you watched it with someone else last night?”
Christopher’s words suddenly made everything clear to me!
Jerry!
But I wasn’t sure if it was Jerry.
