Chapter 26 Don’t Mess Up My Car 

The atmosphere seemed to freeze, and my heart tightened. 

I was still waiting for him to explain something. 

After a moment of stalemate, he asked a cold, hard question: “Do you have to rush to divorce?” 

The emotions in my chest pressed so hard that I could hardly breathe. I looked up at the glaring lights in the living room and blinked, and even though I was already desperate inside, the words that came out of my mouth were cruel. 

“Yes, I am in a hurry.” 

I had to sever all ties with him before he found out I was pregnant. 

I couldn’t afford to gamble with my baby. 

Christopher behind me didn’t speak anymore; the crisp sound of the door closing was his response. 

I felt as if my strength had been stripped away, slowly sliding down the shoe cabinet and staring blankly at the ceiling. 

In an instant, my heart also felt empty, sensing an uncontrollable dull ache. 

That night, unusually, I wasn’t controlled by early pregnancy symptoms, yet I still lay in bed tossing and turning.

She said she would be downstairs to pick me up in twenty minutes, not giving me a chance to refuse. 

As I descended the stairs, my milky white Panamera was parked in front of the apartment building. 

Elissa rolled down the car window,/glancing skeptically at my foot, “Are you really okay?” 

“I’m really fine. Cecil bought me medicine yesterday, and it worked well.”

Elissa raised her eyebrows with interest, started the car, and clicked her tongue, “If you had liked Cecil back then, you would have been very happy!” 

“You make it sound like he would like me just if I like him.” I found It amusing. 

“Maybe.” 

Suddenly, Elissa thought of something and spoke meaningfully, “If it had been Cecil who actually took you to the school infirmary and brought you meals, would you have liked him as much as you liked Christopher?” 

I chuckled, “There are no ‘ifs‘ in this world.” 

“What if there were “‘ifs‘ in the world?” 

Elissa persisted, “Just say yes or no!” 

At her words, I glanced at the crowd outside the car window, thought for a moment, and finally shook my head, “I don’t 

know.” 

Liking and loving actually depended more on a momentary feeling. 

If Cecil had taken me to the school infirmary that day, and I had opened my eyes to see him, with the sunlight shining on him, maybe I would have truly fallen for him. 

But there were no ‘ifs‘ in the world. The person I saw was indeed Christopher, and from then on, I only had 

Christopher. 

Elissa rarely reflected on life, “Fate really loves to play tricks on people.” 

“Don’t talk about me. How is the relationship developing between you and Ivan?”

After her father’s business failure, her father started drinking, gambling, beating his wife, and hitting Elissa.
