Chapter 82 Just Killed an Illegitimate Baby
Hearing this, I was momentarily distracted.
Other than Elissa, who had asked me a similar question before, I had never truly asked myself this question.
Would I fall in love with Christopher?
What if another guy had saved me that day? If I had woken up to see another guy, would I have fallen for him instead?
Or, if Christopher had never helped me, would I still like him as much as I did now? What did my affection over the yeats even mean?
My thoughts were chaotic, and I didn’t dare to think further. I lightly shook my head and said, “Christopher, I can’t give you an answer.”
Christopher’s usual nonchalant demeanor almost slipped, his jawline tensing more and more. He exhaled slowly. “Alright.”
“Does it matter why I liked you?”
I didn’t understand why Christopher seemed somewhat disappointed.
As they were approaching the end of their relationship, there was no need to pursue why it started in the first place.
Avoiding my gaze, Christopher hurriedly stubbed out his cigarette. “What you mentioned, I promise you.”
“What?”
I was momentarily stunried, then realized. “About Evelyn.”
Christopher nodded. “Yes.”
“Make sure you keep your word, for Grandpa Valence’s sake.”
I was fed up with Christopher’s repeated lack of integrity regarding Evelyn.
Christopher looked deeply at me, as if holding something back. In the end, Christopher’s voice was somewhat hoarse and rushed. “You should sleep early, I’m leaving now.”
Before I could speak, Christopher had already walked decisively to the door and changed his shoes.
I hesitated for a moment before resolutely saying, “Since we are getting a divorce, I will delete your fingerprints and change the password. Let’s try to avoid any contact in the future when unnecessary.”
Christopher paused slightly, his knuckles turning pale as he gripped the doorknob.
But he only said, “Got It.”

Christopher rarely agreed so easily, which surprised me, but also relieved me.
After Christopher left, I went into the bathroom to take a shower.
The house was large and empty, yet I felt a long–lost peace and relaxation. I took a hot bath, carefully applying a face mask and taking care of my skin.
Then I read a book and turned off the lights to sleep.
I felt like I had come alive again.
I thought it might be a good start.
But this peace lasted only one night and one morning.
After finishing breakfast, while lounging on the sofa watching recent international fashion show videos, the doorbell suddenly rang
I thought it was the fruit and vegetable delivery I had ordered, so I went to open the door in my cotton slippers. Seeing the unwelcome guest Evelyn, I immediately tried to close the door.
Evelyn, out of breath and obviously in a hurry, rushed in and glared at me with furious eyes, “Hope, you say something to Christopher?”
bitch! Did you
I didn’t want to argue with Evelyn, so I simply called the property management. “Hello, this is the owner of 2002. There’s a crazy woman in my house. Please send two security guards over.“.
“Are you feeling guilty?” Evelyn sneered repeatedly, full of resentment. “You must have said something to him! Otherwise, why would he be defending you so much now, forcing me to give up the hospital room for you first. And then….
“Wait a minute,” I interrupted Evelyn calmly. “Please get your facts straight. It wasn’t you who gave up the hospital room for me. That’s the Valence family’s property. I have more right to use it than you. You should be grateful I let stay in there for a few days.”
“Who are you! Don’t try to intimidate me.”
“Since I’m intimidating you, why are you yelling at me? Go out, don’t dirty my home.”
you
“Is this your home? This was bought by Christopher. With your salary, it would take several lifetimes to afford a house. this big in this location!” Evelyn spat angrily.
“He willingly gave it to me.” I shrugged, smiling slightly. “Or you can talk to him about it?”
“What are you so proud of? Evelyn’s chest heaved with rage, her eyes flashing with a fierce light. “Hope, it’s because of you. You made him drive me out of the country, right? The day I becomic Christopher’s wife, I will make sure you are kicked out of facquar City!”
“Drive you out of the country? was somewhat surprised.

I was speechless.
“I’m not leaving the country. Give up on that idea!”
“Go talk to him. The person who wants to send you abroad is not me.”
Just as I was about to pour myself a glass of water, Evelyn’s cold voice pierced through.
“I killed your baby. You must hate me, right?” Evelyn suddenly laughed, her eyes full of malice.
I felt a sharp pain in my heart, turning to look at Evelyn. “Christopher told you?”
“No, I didn’t need him to tell me.”
Evelyn laughed triumphantly, stepping closer in her high heels and saying, “I already guessed you might be pregnant, though I wasn’t sure. But I couldn’t let go of any possibility.”
“What do you mean?” I had a hunch, my chest burning with rage.
Evelyn covered my mouth and laughed, cruelly and viciously saying. The car accident was intentional that day!”
Watching my face crumble bit by bit, Evelyn sneered, “Didn’t expect that, right? Actually, I wasn’t sure if you were pregnant or not. I just took a chance.”
I said, “Anyway, you all know that my baby is not Christopher’s, just a useless embryo. I was planning to get rid of it!”
