When she left, He went crazy
Chapter 95 I Can Be a Mistress
Grandpa Valence said on the day he passed away that Christopher would know sooner or later, he couldn’t hide it for a lifetime.
It was better to know that night than not.
So that Christopher wouldn’t continue to be deceived by Brenda and Evelyn.
However, what caught me off guard was Barry’s puzzled voice on the phone. “Mrs. Valence, where did you hear about
this?”
1 almost blacked out at the thought of Christopher’s icy gaze!
“Grandpa Valence said so.”
I even began to doubt
1 even began to doubt if I had remembered something wrong, but quickly confirmed that I hadn’t.
I tried to remind him and said, Barry, don
you remember? It was in Grandpa Valence’s study, and he even took out…”
“You must be mistaken,” Barry abruptly interrupted her!
I was dumbfounded, incredulously saying, “How could I have remembered such a big thing wrong?”
“Hope Royston!”
Evelyn, who had been somewhat nervous, suddenly sneered, “Are you trying to bribe Barry to testify for you? Unfortunately, he is Grandpa Valence’s most trusted person and wouldn’t work with you! Give up on that idea!”
“Barry…”
I persisted, wanting to confirm with Barry again, but Christopher snatched the phone away, walked outside with a
fierce expression, and seemed to be questioning Barry.
When he returned, the brewing storm in his eyes seemed ready to engulf me, his voice cold and stern. “Do you have anything else to say?”
“Christopher”
Brenda, with an elder’s indulgence, said, ‘Ms. Royston may just be unhappy with your favoritism toward Evelyn, hence fabricating these things to drive a wedge between you and us. It’s normal after all, don’t be too angry.”
Seeing Brenda’s calm demeanor, I knew I had walked into a trap.
Failed in the worst possible place.
I squeezed my hand, only looking at Christopher. “Whether you believe it or not, what I just said is true.”
“Enough!”

Christopher shouted, “You’ve caused enough trouble, don’t you think?”
Rather than believe what I said, Christopher seemed more inclined to think of her as a malicious troublemaker.
I smiled with a hint of bitterness, “So, you don’t trust me at all, do you?”
Brenda moaned. “I feel terrible.”
Brenda suddenly struggled to breathe and then passed out the next second.
Evelyn, acting even more convincingly, burst into tears instantly. “Christopher, do you want her to anger my mother to
death?”
Christopher’s gaze turned cold and sharp, his voice squeezed out through gritted teeth. “Get out!”
His gaze was like a sharp blade, piercing straight into my heart.
I was stunned for a moment, then Christopher softly command. “Hope Royston, I’m telling you to leave!”
My mind went blank for a moment. I realized that Christopher wasn’t yelling at someone else, but at me.
Compared to Brenda, who had been in a vegetative state for years for his sake, what was I?
Leaving the hospital, I tore the file bag my held into shreds.
Christopher didn’t believe.
Christopher didn’t believe anything.
No matter how much evidence I prepared was useless.
What surprised me even more was Barry.
Driving home in a turmoil of emotions, I parked my car and saw a Bentley parked not far away.
It was the one Grandpa Valence used most frequently before.
As I got out of the car, I saw Barry getting out of the Grandpa Valence, looking at me with a guilty expression. “I’m sorry, Mrs. Valence, I had no choice but to do that on the phone.”
“Why?”
I was so exhausted and unable to summon any anger.
I just wanted to know the reason.
Barry’s face was grave. “I just went to Christopher’s private psychiatrist, and he said Christopher has started therapy again recently.”
“Recently?”

I was slightly taken aback, and Barry continued, “It was after he found out about your miscarriage.”
Suddenly, I couldn’t decide if Christopher was despicable or pitiful.
“So, are you afraid that the truth about his mother’s death will upset him again?”
“Yes.”
Barry nodded. “The psychiatrist suggested taking it slow, waiting for Mr. Valence to improve a bit.“.
Okay.
I replied softly, unable to muster any other emotions.
If it weren’t for Grandpa Valence’s dying instructions, I wouldn’t have cared about the Valence family’s affairs.
But returning home, thinking about Christopher’s ordeal, a hint of pity arose in my once again.
However, when I remembered how Christopher had yelled at me in the hospital room, that fleeting pity vanished.
I suddenly felt a bit resentful towards myself, resentful that I always seemed incapable and clueless in my actions.
As I lay bored on the couch, Elissa suddenly arrived.
I opened the door. “Why didn’t you just use your fingerprint to come in?”
“I didn’t want to accidentally see something I shouldn’t.”
Elissa swayed her slender waist as she entered, kicked off her high heels, slipped into her own pair of slippers, and looked at me, said, “Why the bad mood?”
“Today, I was supposed to hit the nail on the head.”
I tossed a bottle of juice to Elissa, then settled back into the sofa, chuckling self–deprecatingly. “But unexpectedly, I
ended up alerting the enemy.”
“You are being too indirect.”
Elissa unscrewed the bottle cap and gossiped. “I don’t understand, can you be more direct?”
Today, Evelyn Valence’s mother woke up.”
I sighed. “I could have presented evidence that her mother killed Christopher’s mother, and smoothly sent Evelyn Valence out of the country.”
“But, it didn’t work out.”
As I spoke, she briefly recounted/the events to Elissa.
“It’s bad. The young one who pretended to be innocent didn’t leave, and an old one came in.”

Rolling her eyes, Elissa drank some juice and snorted. “But it’s not surprising that Christopher doesn’t believe you.”
“Why?”
“When has he ever believed you?
Elissa’s rhetorical question left me speechless.
