Where Petals of Vengeance Bloom novel Chapter 162

Sean hesitated at first, unsure if it was really Claire standing there. He didn't want to rush into anything until he could get closer and confirm it was her.

Noticing Brian's intentions, Sean frowned slightly and pulled Claire into a protective embrace, her face buried against his chest.

"Is there something you need, Mr. Cole?" he asked coolly.

Brian ignored Sean's cold demeanor and stood firmly in front of him, "Nothing much, just wanted to say hi to Mr. Foster."

He then glanced at Claire, raising an eyebrow with curiosity. "And who might this be?"

Claire's heart pounded in her chest, her fingers gripping the edge of her coat so tightly that her nails pressed into her palms.

Sean's voice was steady and confident, "My fiancée."

Claire's heart raced even faster at these words, as if it were about to leap from her throat.

Pressed against Sean's chest, she could clearly feel his strong, steady heartbeat, intertwining with her own frantic rhythm.

The atmosphere instantly became tense, as if the air had thickened around them.

Everything around them seemed to fall silent, leaving only the sound of their breathing and the beating of their hearts.

Brian's expression froze momentarily, his smile turning awkward.

Unwilling to let it go, he scrutinized Claire, feeling a growing familiarity and curiosity. Finally, he couldn't help but say, "So you're Mr. Foster's fiancée. Nice to meet you, I'm Brian."

Claire remained stiff, clinging to Sean, afraid to speak lest Brian recognize her voice.

Sean narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint in them. "My fiancée isn't feeling well and can't greet Mr. Cole."
