Brian struggled futilely, his voice rising with fury. "Sean, how dare you treat Vanessa like this? I'll never let you get away with it!"
His eyes were bloodshot and wild, his face twisted with rage. But to Sean, Brian's threats were no more than the impotent cries of an ant. Sean couldn't be bothered to spare him a second glance.
With no impact on Sean, Brian turned his ire towards Claire. "Claire, Vanessa is your sister, and you're just going to stand by and watch her be bullied? What kind of person are you?"
Claire let out a derisive laugh, refusing to play into his accusations. "It's been over a month, Brian. Irene Cole should be able to speak by now, right? Is it that she hasn't told you the truth, or you just won't give her the chance to?"
Brian's face went pale as a sheet. He had sent Irene abroad precisely to avoid hearing the truths he didn't want to face. As long as she stayed silent, he could pretend he hadn't made mistakes, hadn't wronged Claire. In his mind, everything he'd done to Claire was justified.
Unwilling to continue discussing Irene, he shifted the blame back to Claire. "I'm your fiancé, yet you're cavorting with another man. Have you no shame?"
"Claire, tell them to stop right now, or I swear I'll never forgive you."
Claire simply watched Brian, his accusations and insults like the antics of a clown in a tragicomedy, unable to stir any emotion within her except for a deep sense of absurdity.
Sean frowned, his voice cutting through the tension with three cold words. "Too much noise."
Understanding Sean's cue, Liam swiftly removed his sock and unceremoniously stuffed it into Brian's mouth. Brian's eyes widened in shock, and he wriggled desperately, trying to free himself from the guards' hold, but it was useless.
He tried to spit out the foul-smelling sock, but no amount of effort could expel it. The acrid stench filled his mouth, almost making him gag. All he could manage were muffled "mmph" sounds as he watched helplessly while Vanessa's hair was shorn away, strand by strand.
