Claire's frail and worn-out body felt utterly undeserving of someone as radiant as Sean. The flush that had just colored her cheeks faded swiftly, replaced by a profound sense of melancholy and desolation.
Sean lifted his gaze and looked down at Ethan from the window, his eyes turning as cold as ice, capable of freezing everything in their path, with a hint of challenge lurking beneath.
Ethan met Sean's steely gaze, his heart nearly bursting with anger. His finger trembled as he pointed at Sean, shouting, "Sean Foster, I'm warning you, don't you dare lay a finger on my sister!"
Ethan's fury ignited a mischievous defiance in Sean. A sardonic smile crept up Sean's lips, made all the more dazzling under the glow of the lights.
Suddenly, Sean turned his head and gently pressed his lips to Claire's neck. In that instant, time seemed to stand still.
Claire felt a jolt of electricity surge through her, her heart nearly leaping out of her chest. Her hands clenched tightly, her breath becoming erratic and disordered.
Ethan, standing outside Foster Manor, witnessed everything with clarity. His eyes widened like saucers, stomping his feet in rage, and he charged towards the mansion's door, pounding on it with all his might.
"Open up, let me in!" he yelled. "Sean, you bastard, get your filthy hands off my sister!"
"Claire, stop playing dead—Sean’s no good, you won't be happy with him!"
The mansion's door slowly opened, revealing Nanny Grace and May. Upon seeing May, hope flared in Ethan's eyes.
"May, let me in immediately! Sean's all over Claire, he's even kissing her—I'll thrash him!" Ethan shouted desperately.
Grace and May exchanged a glance, their faces lighting up with undisguised joy. Without a word, they shut the door again, rushing to bring this "good news" to the matriarch.
