Where Petals of Vengeance Bloom novel Chapter 254

Claire froze—there was no time to hide.

But in that split second, Jeffry Moore stepped to the side, shielding her completely with his broad, imposing frame. Caught between Jeffry and the wall, Claire lowered her head, doing her best to fade into the background.

Sophia didn't even notice her. She strode straight into the hospital room, a group of people trailing behind. The sight that greeted them was enough to drain the color from even the most hardened medical staff: blood was everywhere, soaking the sheets and pooling on the floor.

When Sophia saw the mangled mess between Nathan's legs, her mind went blank for a moment, buzzing with shock.

Nathan had always been a disappointment, but at least he was useful—now, with that gone, he was utterly ruined.

Still, Sophia's surprise lasted only a heartbeat. She never truly cared for Nathan; a man so ruthless he could abandon his own wife and child was never going to earn her affection. In fact, she'd always feared that one day Nathan would decide she was expendable and quietly make her disappear.

To her, Nathan was born to be used—someone like him didn't deserve real loyalty.

She couldn't help but wonder what kind of twisted genes could produce a wolf like Nathan.

Shaking herself, Sophia quickly regained her composure and snapped at the medical team, "What are you standing around for? Save him—now!"

The staff jolted into action, scrambling to Nathan's side and rushing him out of the room.

Nearby, Adah had collapsed, utterly spent. Sophia ordered the nurses to take her to surgery as well—not out of kindness, but because the rest of the staff were watching. As hospital director, she couldn't afford to look indifferent, even if that's what she felt.

Once the chaos had cleared and everyone was gone, Jeffry finally stepped aside, revealing Claire behind him.

"Ms. Linwood, why didn't you tell Nathan that Vanessa isn't his daughter?" Jeffry asked quietly. "Wouldn't that have hurt him even more?"

Claire gave a cold smile. "That would be letting him off too easy."

"He's always loved squeezing every bit of value from people—so I'll do the same. I'll let the woman he loves drain him dry."
