Lewis?
Claire’s thoughts instantly flashed back to last night, when she’d run into Victor Lewis.
Could it have been Victor who called the police for her?
When the car finally pulled up in front of the Lewis estate, Claire had her answer. It was Victor.
She’d hoped Adah might have helped, but Adah, as usual, had managed to do absolutely nothing right.
If not for Victor, Claire suspected she’d be lying in a morgue by now.
Their arrival at the Lewis home was met with a warm, almost exuberant welcome for the Tempests.
Victor, spotting Claire, looked as if he might leap with excitement. He bounded over in three giant strides, grabbing both her hands in his own, his eyes shining with disbelief and awe.
“Claire? Is it really you?”
“I can’t believe it. In my lifetime, I finally get to meet our country’s genius scientist.”
“Professor Tempest, you’re my hero. Truly, you’re an inspiration for all of us.”
Victor was so excited, he could barely string a sentence together.
Claire found herself a little overwhelmed by his enthusiasm.
After all, in her past life, Victor had always treated her with biting sarcasm and dismissive arrogance. Even after learning the truth, he’d never stopped acting like a spoiled playboy who took nothing seriously.
Now, to see such open admiration in his gaze was almost surreal.
She tried to pull her hands free, but Victor’s grip was too tight.
Just then, Sean stepped forward, pried Victor’s hands away, and drew Claire protectively into his arms.
Victor scowled. “And you are?”
Sean’s expression was cool. “I’m Claire’s fiancé.”
Victor: “…”
Professor Tempest has a fiancé?
In the past, most visitors came from business circles. Now, the Tempests were connecting with people from all kinds of backgrounds.
The family was no longer just about business.
York Pierce, Zachary Quinn, Daisy Quinn, and the others were especially thrilled to have Claire back.
York and Zachary looked just as proud.
Claire might have been the youngest among them, but with two lifetimes’ worth of experience, she was the most composed by far.
She loved watching her friends laugh and tease each other, and she cherished the warmth of their company.
This time around, the people around her weren’t full of mockery and scorn like before.
Now, she was truly happy.
And what made her even happier was seeing Mandy Shaw again.
