Today was Claire’s wedding, and swept up in the celebration, she’d indulged in a few too many glasses of champagne. She never imagined things would spiral like this.

Taking a steadying breath, Mandy forced herself to calm down. Liam, on the other hand, looked thoroughly disheveled—his shirt askew, a lipstick mark on his collar, hair a mess. Guilt prickled her as she stammered, “I’m so sorry. I got drunk—I didn’t mean for any of that to happen.”

Liam fixed her with an intense stare. “You think you can just apologize after what you did to me, Miss Mandy?”

Face burning with embarrassment, she managed, “I really am sorry. I know there’s nothing I can say to make it right, but if there’s anything I can do—whatever it is, as long as it’s within my power—I’ll try to make it up to you.”

Liam almost laughed, though he kept a straight face. He was starting to enjoy teasing her like this. Maybe it wasn’t exactly noble, but he had no intention of letting Mandy slip away. Something deep inside told him that if he let this girl go, he’d never find anyone else like her.

He drew a slow breath. “Maybe you didn’t mean to do what you did, but the fact remains—you did it. You even stole my first kiss. I’m a bit old-fashioned, you know. I nearly lost my virtue to you tonight. So how about this—why don’t I become your boyfriend from now on?”

Mandy stared at him, utterly stunned.
