Where Petals of Vengeance Bloom novel Chapter 70

Without a second thought, Adah shook her head firmly.

Although Vanessa wasn’t her biological daughter, the bond they shared was deeper than blood. Vanessa was the cherished girl she had nurtured with all her heart and soul.

She couldn’t bear the thought of her precious daughter marrying someone from another state, only to risk being mistreated without anyone to support her.

The mere idea of Vanessa facing hardship made Adah’s heart ache unbearably.

Adah glanced deeply at Claire, who lay pale on the hospital bed. Pressing her lips together, she eventually sighed, yet said nothing.

In the room, Claire had heard everything. She trembled with anger, her fists clenching so tightly that her nails dug into her palms.

She never imagined Nathan could be so heartless, treating her like a mere commodity to be traded for business gain.

Just a few days ago, Adah had pleaded for her forgiveness, yet when it came to Vanessa, she was willing to sacrifice her own biological daughter.

How ironic, she thought, these people were all talk and no action.

After a long moment, Claire managed to suppress her fury.

She needed money to send Mandy abroad. But money was precisely what she lacked.

What could she do?

It seemed her only option was to go along with Nathan’s plan.

Perhaps a marriage alliance might be her ticket out of the Linwood family. She didn’t know much about the Fosters of Northcrest, but surely, they couldn’t be worse than the Linwoods.

Leaving the Linwoods and gaining a million-dollar dowry would give her the means to send May and Mandy overseas, making it impossible for the Linwoods to control her anymore.

In this way, it was a win-win situation.

But having her fate dictated by others still left her feeling suffocated.
