What to do?
As soon as she left, he found himself missing her already.
Turning around, he headed back.
Back to Sherilyn's room.
Even though she wasn't there, the scent of her lingered, and it was only with that familiar fragrance that he could find peaceful sleep.
...
The next morning, Gilbert was up early. He took care of his own tasks before heading upstairs to wake up Jenna.
He helped his daughter get dressed and then assisted her with brushing her teeth.
By now, he'd mastered the art of handling these little everyday tasks for his daughter.
Only after sharing breakfast with Jenna did he leave Blue Haven and head to the office.
The day was a blur of activity, much like any other day.
At four in the afternoon, he finally caught a moment to breathe.
Leaning back on the couch, Gilbert closed his eyes for a quick rest and asked Charles, who stood nearby, "What's next on the schedule?"
"Mr. Gilbert, you could take a short nap," Charles replied, checking the itinerary and recalling Sherilyn's instructions to ensure Gilbert didn't tire himself out. "There's nothing pressing for now. There's a dinner at seven."
Hearing this, Gilbert's eyes snapped open.
That meant he had a three-hour window.
He suddenly stood up. "Tell the driver to bring the car around."
"Uh?" Charles was momentarily stunned. "Where are you headed?"
"Going to Ironforge," Gilbert tossed over his shoulder as he left the executive suite.
And with that, the entourage hurriedly made their way to Ironforge.
Ironforge was just next to Sunhaven, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, it was about an hour's drive.
"Step on it," Gilbert instructed the driver as they sped off.
He missed Sherilyn terribly!
Going from abundance to scarcity was easy, but the reverse was hard—a lesson he was learning all too well.
Since Sherilyn had moved to Blue Haven, they'd been seeing each other daily, and lately, they'd been sharing a bed every night!
He couldn't handle being apart from her for more than 24 hours...
On the way, Charles contacted Candida.
