As usual, a few days had passed and Gilbert was once again conducting his own 'inspection'.
Sherilyn tugged at his arm, her face flushed, "Can you be a little more... refined?"
"Refined?" Gilbert raised an eyebrow, clearly satisfied with his findings. "With the door closed and just the two of us in here? Being refined would mean I’ve got a problem…”
With that, he leaned in, sealing her lips with a kiss.
His hand cradled her back, while his lips moved from hers to the delicate pearl button at the nape of her neck, undoing it with a swift motion.
His kisses trailed down, lingering at her neck.
His breathing grew heavy, his voice rough, "Shall we take a shower? Together... hm?"
But he quickly dismissed his own suggestion.
“Maybe later… after we’re done.”
He lifted her with ease, carrying her towards the bed, "Let's just—"
"Wait!" Sherilyn pushed against his chest, shaking her head in protest.
"Why?" Gilbert's eyes darkened, visibly frustrated. "We’re already here, and you’re still saying no?"
"I..."
Just as Sherilyn was about to explain, her phone rang.
Taking the opportunity, she gently pushed him away and answered, "Hey... I'm ready. I'll be down in a minute."
Ending the call, she faced Gilbert's slightly wounded expression.
"Where are you going?" His voice was a mix of disappointment and curiosity.
Sherilyn explained, "There's a brand event happening at Ironforge."
"Why didn't I know about this?" Gilbert frowned, his disheveled hair adding to his dejected look.
Sherilyn chuckled, "I just found out this afternoon from Director Blake. Didn’t get a chance to tell you."
"And you're leaving now?"
"Yeah. I’ve already packed my things."
Given the short trip, she hadn’t needed to pack much.
"So, you really have to go, huh?"
Gilbert sighed in resignation, "How long will you be gone?"
