At this moment, Rebecca White was fuming, her cheeks flushed with anger, her eyes wide and full of life. It was a far cry from the gentle, fragile person he had known her to be, always in need of care and rarely so animated.
He smirked, "So, you're upset because you saw me having dinner with Selina?"
"Francis!"
Rebecca was taken aback, not expecting him to admit it so bluntly.
"I never asked for any promises from you, never! So please, just let me go!"
She chuckled bitterly, "My ex-husband was a serial cheater, and I refuse to go through that again! This is where we end!"
She shook her arm, "Let go of me! Or I'll call for help!"
They stood at the restaurant entrance, facing the bustling street. If she shouted, it would undoubtedly draw a crowd.
"Don't want to make a scene, do you, Mr. Johnson?"
"Don't shout!"
Francis said, but still didn't release his grip.
Time was of the essence, and he spoke quickly, "Stay right here. I've got a show for you."
He shot a glance at Sawyer, "Keep an eye on her."
"Yes, Mr. Francis."
Francis finally let go of Rebecca. "Trust me, I haven't betrayed you, and I won't let you down."
He took a couple of steps back. "Trust me."
Rebecca watched him retreat, confused by his words. She turned abruptly to Sawyer.
"What is he planning?"
"Ms. White." Sawyer handed her a phone.
The screen showed an ongoing call with Francis.
What was going on?
Rebecca took the phone, holding it to her ear, and held her breath.
...
Inside the private dining room.
Francis pushed open the door and apologized to Selina, "Sorry, had to take care of something."
"No worries," Selina said understandingly, "Work is important."
