But Joyce didn't know a thing about cars and was completely clueless about what to do next.
Just as she was starting to panic, someone tapped her on the shoulder.
"Joy."
"Hmm?" Joyce turned around and met Galen's sunny smile. "Galen?"
"It's me." Galen's heart skipped a beat. "You remember me?"
"What kind of question is that?"
Joyce laughed, "I don't have amnesia, you know. We did spend half a day together, and you're such a handsome young man. How could I forget?"
Galen felt his cheeks warm up and cleared his throat awkwardly, pointing at her car.
"Broken down?"
"Yeah."
Joyce frowned in frustration. "I really need the car, and it's second-hand... Haven't driven it much, and now it just won't start."
"Want me to take a look?"
"Yes, please!"
Galen rolled up his sleeves and took a closer look.
"It's the spark plugs."
"Oh?" Joyce blinked. "What do we do about that?"
"We'll need to get it towed to a repair shop."
"Is it that much trouble?"
Galen nodded. Seeing her troubled expression, he offered, "You just got back to Sunhaven, right? You're probably not familiar with this stuff yet. How about I help you call a tow truck?"
"Yes, please!"
Galen hesitated for a moment. "You agreed so quickly? Aren't you afraid I might be tricking you?"
"What's there to be afraid of?"
Joyce shook her head, unconcerned. "You're Sherilyn's brother, practically like my own brother."
Brother...
Galen frowned slightly; he didn't like that label.
With a smile, he said, "I'll handle it. Let me make the call."
"Sure thing!"
