Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 516

"Sherilyn, Ms. Hansen is here, wants to see you."

"Alright, I'll be right there."

Daphne Hansen had been on the sidelines for a while, nursing injuries from the Crestwood incident; it was more serious than most, the kind that takes a hundred days to heal if it ever truly does. She was still in a state of semi-recovery.

"Ms. Hansen." Sherilyn entered the rest room, hands clasped respectfully. "You're here today? How's your injury, I hope it's nothing serious?"

"Getting by," Daphne gestured towards her leg, "These things take time."

She was here on official business.

"Take a seat, let's talk."

"Of course," Sherilyn complied, sitting down. "Ms. Hansen, is there something you needed?"

Daphne got straight to the point. "Sherilyn, I want to assign you to a TV network's dance reality show as a mentor."

Sherilyn blinked, taken aback by the sudden proposal.

"But, Ms. Hansen, the dance company has been on break for over a month, aren't we due for a performance soon?"

"We haven't started preparations yet," Daphne sighed, "The dance company took a heavy hit this time. Some of the dancers... they won't be able to dance again."

Sherilyn had heard rumors, of course.

For dancers, injuries are their greatest fear; they're devastating. While ordinary folks might recover sufficiently to go on with their daily lives, dancers might never return to the stage.

Indeed, two of the company's leading dancers were among those who could no longer perform.

Daphne had already chosen their successors, but with so many new faces, the company's draw was inevitably diminished.

"Sherilyn, you've got to use this TV gig to boost our reputation, okay?"

In an era ruled by social media and public presence, Daphne was no traditionalist; she understood the double-edged sword of popularity all too well.

"Sherilyn, I trust you. I know your passion for the stage. Do you understand?"

The entertainment industry is dazzling and distracting. Stepping into reality TV is like dipping a toe into that world, and it's easy to lose oneself.

Plainly put, Daphne needed someone reliable; otherwise, losing a dancer to the entertainment industry would be a net loss.
