"I know." Sherilyn nodded, striving to remain composed as she withdrew her hand from his grasp.

The moment her hand was free, Gilbert's gaze darkened. He stood up and turned to the nurse. "There are cameras in this ward, right? Let's check the footage!"

"We'll need to contact security."

"Then hurry up and do it!"

"Okay!"

A patient disappearing from their VIP room, especially without a trace, was clearly a failure on the hospital's part. After contacting them, the security team immediately accessed the surveillance footage.

The video showed Galen leaving the ward on his own, his coat draped over the hospital gown.

"Here... he's leaving the hospital."

In the footage, Galen was last seen exiting the hospital's main doors and getting into a car.

"Pause!" Gilbert pointed at the screen, "Can you zoom in on that car?"

"Yes, one moment."

As the image of the car enlarged, its license plate became visible.

Gilbert glanced at Charles, who nodded in understanding, "I'll look into it right away."

With the license plate number, finding the car's owner was easy. Charles returned with news, "Mr. Gilbert, that car belongs to Malvina."

"Her car?" At that, Sherilyn sprang up from the sofa, "She's the one who took Galen!"

So, that phone call earlier was all an act!

"She's trying to stop Galen from donating bone marrow to Jenna!"

It was an easy conclusion to reach, and likely the truth. Gilbert closed his eyes in frustration, realizing his oversight. He had only worried about Malvina causing trouble for Sherilyn, never imagining she would target her own son!
