Naylor arched an eyebrow, intrigued by what was unfolding.
"Sir, shall we invite Mr. Nine in?"
"There's no hurry."
Naylor shook his head, narrowing his eyes with a glint of cunning, "The Harrison family's doors must be entered by his own choice."
"We'll wait."
"Understood."
The guest had already arrived; how much longer could they wait?
Outside, Gilbert extinguished his cigarette, took a deep breath, and stepped out of the car. The gate opened automatically as he alighted.
Nolan, accompanied by a few others, greeted him at the entrance, "Mr. Nine, please come inside."
Gilbert gave Nolan a glance, remained silent, and walked straight in. He knew that Naylor was aware of his arrival.
In the living room, Naylor was, as always, brewing tea.
Gilbert approached, and without looking up, Naylor gestured to the sofa across from him, "You're here? Have a seat."
Gilbert sat down quietly as instructed.
"Hmm?"
Naylor looked up at him, a smirk playing on his lips, "So quiet today?"
When did he ever come without causing a stir, without turning everything upside down?
"Heh, quite unaccustomed to this."
Faced with the jest, Gilbert remained tight-lipped. He wasn’t here for laughter.
"What's wrong?"
Seeing his demeanor, Naylor dropped the smile, "Ran into some trouble?"
Their eyes met, and Gilbert hesitated for a moment before finally speaking. "I need to find someone."
Naylor raised an eyebrow, "Who?"
"You wouldn't know them."
Gilbert shook his head, his gaze intensifying as he leaned slightly forward, "I need your connections."
As these words left his mouth, both men paused.
Silence ensued.
Since leaving the Martin family's residence the previous night, Gilbert had been wrestling with this issue.
All the connections he previously had were tied to the Johnson family.
Sylvia had forbidden him from getting involved with the Johnson family...
