Chapter 113
Natalie kept trying to keep the conversation going during the who dinner.
“Greg, the steak’s actually really good. Do you want to try some?”
“Greg, this dessert is nice, It’s not too sweet.”
“Greg…”
“Yeah.”
Gregory barely responded. By the time dessert arrived, his steak was still untouched. He looked as though he was facing Natalie, but his gaze kept drifting past her–to Anathea.
The more he saw her smiling from the side, looking so happy and radiant, the darker his expression became. His eyes practically burned a hole through her.
She’d never smiled like that with him. But with that chef, she was smiling as if she had no worries in the world.
To top it off, she was casually cutting meat for Thomas, even serving him food as though it was the most normal thing in the world.
Scoffing, Gregory suddenly stabbed his knife into his plate, creating a sharp sound.
Natalie jumped at the sound, startled. “Greg? What’s wrong?”
Finally looking away from Anathea, Gregory glanced down, saying flatly, “Nothing.”
Then, he motioned for the server to take the food away.
Natalie watched him carefully. Something felt off. She couldn’t quite put her finger on it, but the atmosphere had shifted drastically.
Meanwhile, Anathea and Thomas had just finished their meal. After paying the bill, she walked out with him.
That was when Gregory suddenly stood up.
Natalie blinked. “Greg, you haven’t even finished dessert.”
“I’m not hungry.”
Grabbing his coat, he uttered, “Stay here. Dexter will take you home later.”
“What about you?” she asked, confused. Why did she have to go home with his driver, Dexter Barrett? Why wasn’t Gregory taking her home?
“Eleanor said you should go back with me-
“I said Dexter will take you home,” Gregory interrupted flatly, leaving no room for argument.
Natalie was stunned. Just earlier, before they got to the restaurant, Gregory hadn’t been like this at all. What had ct.ged?
Not bothering to give her an explanation, Gregory turned and left.
“Greg…” Natalie tried to call after him, but he didn’t even glance back.
What the hell just happened?
Natalie frowned. Did she say something wrong?
She’d only brought up Xander’s parent–teacher meeting. If she’d gone, the school probably would’ve assumed she was Xander’s mom–Gregory’s wife. But she hadn’t even ended up going.

As she sat there confused, something caught her attention out of the corner of her eye–a silhouette by the door.
Anathea?
Natalie’s expression changed instantly.
Gregory was walking in that exact direction. So, that was why he was in such a hurry–he was going after Anathea.
“Anathea!” Natalie muttered through gritted teeth, clenching her law as she watched Anathea walk away. Her fingers curled into a tight fist.
