Why the Crocodile Tears (by Flower Sock) novel Chapter 137

Chapter 137

Anathea pulled out her phone and opened a video. It had been sent her by a nurse who’d witnessed the whole thing and couldn’t bear to see Anathea be wrongly accused.

Natalie’s fingers curled tightly on her lap.

But Anathea had already hit play, showing the clip right in front of Eleanor.

However, there had been too many onlookers at the time. The nurse who’d filmed the video had been pushed to the edge of the crowd and could only record from a distance, so the conversation between Anathea and Natalie wasn’t clearly captured.

But the part where Natalie slammed Anathea to the ground and stomped on her hand was all caught on camera.

Natalie’s face darkened at once. Eleanor narrowed her eyes, a glint of malice flashing through them.

Anathea, with nothing left to lose, met Eleanor’s gaze headon. There was a resolve in her demeanor that she’d never shown before.

Mrs. Sinclair, if you want to take this to court, then I’ll release the video. Whatever you want to try, I’m ready for it-That’s enough!Gregory’s cold voice cut her off.

Anathea froze. She turned to her side and met his furious gaze. His eyes were blazing with a rage that looked like it could burn right through her.

Don’t push it, Anathea,Gregory warned. I’ll handle this.

When Anathea heard that, the surge of emotions in her chest instantly froze over, like a sudden snowfall turning everything to ice.

Her fingers curled into fists at her sides. She let out a bitter laugh under her breath.

Of course. Gregory would always stand on Natalie’s side. Even when the proof was right in front of him, he still chose to protect her.

When he said he’d handle it, what he really meant was asking her to stay in her lane.

At that moment, her chest felt tight, like something heavy had settled in there, making it hard to breathe.

Meanwhile, Natalie seemed slightly surprised by Gregory’s reaction, but her expression quickly turned smug. She shot a triumphant glance at Anathea.

So what if Anathea had evidence? As long as the video didn’t capture the words she’d said at that moment, she had nothing to fear.

When Eleanor glanced at Gregory, the malice in her eyes slowly faded. She looked down at Anathea with an air of superiority.

The lights from outside the hospital streamed in through the windows, casting a soft glow on Natalie and Eleanor. Anathea stood in their shadow, dim and insignificant by comparison.

Their smug satisfaction made Anathea’s attempt to fight back seem almost laughable.

If she didn’t fight, Eleanor could press charges against her for assaulting Natalie. But when she did fight, all she got in return was a warning from Gregory.

No matter what she did, she could never win against the Sinclairs.

Anathea lowered her gaze, feeling a sting in her eyes. Even the heart she’d thought had finally become a little tougher began to ache once again. The pain spread through her, as if it were woven into her very bloodstream. It was particularly sharp around

her lower abdomen.

She clutched her stomach, and her face went pale. Her knees buckled.
