He suddenly missed her “Where’s Mom? I want. Mom…”
Gregory didn’t respond. Instead, he handed Xander over to Mateo who quickly started checking his temperature and running
“Mr. Xander has been eating too much unhealthy food lately, which caused an infection and triggered this high fever,” Maten explained. He gave Xander an injection to lower his fever and started an IV drip.
“Unhealthy food?” Gregory frowned. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the table piled high with takeout boxes. They wer now starting to give off a faint, sour odor.
So, Xander had been eating takeout every day for the past few days?
Gregory’s face darkened as he took out his phone and called Natalie. She picked up almost immediately. Her tone was filled with surprise and a hint of joy.
After all, it was rare for Gregory to call her first. “Greg? What’s the matter?”
“Where are you?” Gregory asked.
Natalie was puzzled by his sudden question but answered honestly, “I’m at the spa.”
She was going to attend the Presgraves‘ party with Gregory. Then, everyone would know that she was Mrs. Sinclair. Of course, she would need to get some facial treatments beforehand so she could appear in the best possible condition and show everyone that she and Gregory were the perfect match.
Gregory’s eyes grew cold at her words.
When Natalie didn’t hear his response, she grew more confused. “What’s wrong, Greg?”
“Nothing.” Gregory hung up abruptly. His face hardened.
Xander kept murmuring “Mom” under his breath. Gregory opened the chat with Anathea and sent her a message.
“Xander’s sick. He wants to see you.”
But after a long wait, there was no reply.
Gregory felt a strange sense of unease.
In the past, Anathea had always been extremely concerned about Xander’s health. Any small illness, be it a slight cold or a fever, would send her into a panic. She would be by Xander’s side all night, refusing to rest until his fever had gone down.
But this time, she hadn’t even replied to his message. Had she seen it and chosen not to respond? Or had she not seen it at all?
Gregory tightened his grip on the phone.
