Hannah carefully observed Analhea’s expression and found it neutral. It was as if Anathea couldn’t care less about what she’d seen on television.
Only then did Hannah heave a sigh of relief and let loose a torrent of abuse. “To think that no–good Gregory would bring that hussy to a huge social event so soon after your divorce!”
Hannah didn’t remember seeing Gregory bring Anathea to any social event. He couldn’t have made his double standards any more obvious.
In stark contrast to Hannah’s outrage, Anathea remained expressionless. She and Gregory were divorced, and he could bring whoever he wanted to to any party. It had nothing to do with Anathea anyway, and she saw no point in dwelling on the past. “Gregory?” Chloe was curious about the man Hannah was cursing Mommy, who’s Gregory?”
“This guy right here,” Hannah said, clenching her jaw as she pointed at the man appearing on camera. “He might look like a decent fella, but he’s nothing but a despicable, no–good prick!”
“Oh, so this is a prick.” Chloe nodded in understanding, then blinked. “Thea, this prick is kind of handsome!”
Much like Hannah, Chloe had an affinity for good–looking men.
Exasperated to hear this, Hannah ruffled the little girl’s hair and patiently educated her. “Chloe, listen to me carefully, okay? Being handsome is useless, and it certainly won’t put food on the table, so don’t ever fall for someone just because of their good looks. Do you understand?”
Anathea couldn’t help but laugh when she heard Hannah give a five–year–old a solemn lecture on such a topic.
The dashing, towering silhouette that appeared on the television screen easily caught her eye again. Gregory’s extremely good looks made up for his lack of good character.
He stood out in a crowd and stole the spotlight wherever he went. It was hard to ignore his presence.
It was also precisely because of this that the press was happy to give a powerful and handsome man like Gregory more screen time. The reporters practically ran after him to get him on camera.
Natalie didn’t take her gaze off Gregory either. She cursed Anathea for having the good fortune of hogging a man as perfect and popular as Gregory.
But now, that perfect man would soon be Natalie’s! A smug look flashed in her eyes.
Natalie would wait until the dinner party started and for Macon and Dayanna to go up on stage.
Once she linked arms with Gregory and walked the red carpet before the audience, she would be legitimately known as Mrs. Sinclair. Then, every woman in Castenea would envy her!
Her smile widened at the thought of this, and she stared at Gregory longingly as he headed in her direction. The reporters‘ cameras panned to follow his movements.
The lights tracked Gregory and happened to fall on Natalie, illuminating her extravagant gown.
“Goodness, that lady’s gown is exquisite! And she’s a beauty, too!”
“That’s Ms. Whitman, the brains behind the recent famous ‘Modern Tranquility‘ exhibition in Castenea! Look at that poise, that
ing figure!” figure! She’s perfect. Gosh, I’m jealous of gorgeous women who seem to have it all–beauty, talent, and an a “Tell me about it! Also, I heard that some bigwig spent a ton of money to have that dress custom–made for her. Word has it that he spent two million dollars on it!”
“Two million dollars? For a gown? She’s just a walking piece of real estate at this point! How extravagant can one get?” “You know nothing. It only proves that she’s so charming that the man didn’t even think twice before spending that much
