Why the Crocodile Tears (by Flower Sock) novel Chapter 179

The maid nearby let out a startled cry, clearly freaked out. But Gregory just stood there, completely unfazed.

Even when the scalding tea splashed across the back of his hand, he didn’t so much as flinch.

He stepped forward, facing Holden and Eleanor, and greeted them politely, Hello, Mom, Dad.

Eleanor turned her face away, not even sparing him a glance. Holden, on the other hand, snapped, You ingrate! After all these years, this is how you repay us?

Gregory lowered his eyes, staying silent.

He knew them well enoughthe more he argued, the worse things would get. Silence was always the best way to get through

these moments.

Sure enough, when he didn’t respond, Eleanor’s gaze eventually shifted to his reddened hand.

Frowning, she said, What are you standing around for? His hand got burned. Go get some ointment!

Holden hesitated, then waved his hand for someone to bring the medicine over. A maid hurried forward to apply it to Gregory’s

hand.

Thank you, Mom,Gregory uttered with a small nod.

Well, since you know you messed up, sit down. We need to talk about you and Nat.

She had someone pull a chair out for him and motioned for him to sit, then went right on talking.

I’ve already had people push down the buzz around what you did at the party, but we can’t just ignore it forever. So, I’ll handle it. I’ll make sure everyone knows Anathea isn’t fit to be my daughterinlaw.

She looked straight at Gregory and added, All you need to do is publicly announce your divorce from her. After that, I’ll officially recognize Nat as my daughterinlaw. You’ll take her with you to the opening ceremony of the company’s new project. That way, we can clean up this mess once and for all.

Hearing that, Gregory didn’t sit down. Instead, he stayed standing posture straight and cold.

Eleanor noticed the change immediately and narrowed her eyes at him. I told you to sit down. What are you doing?

From the way you’re speaking, it doesn’t sound like you’re here to talk.

It was obvious she’d already decided everything, using this mess as an excuse to kick Anathea out of the Sinclair family.

She wouldn’t have come up with such a detailed plan so quickly if she hadn’t been waiting for the chance.

You’re right. I’m not trying to discuss anything with you,Eleanor replied bluntly, dropping all pretense. Her voice carried a sharp edge of irritation.

I’ve said it beforeI’ll only accept Nat as my daughterinlaw. Anathea used a bunch of cheap tricks to climb to where she is. If she really thinks she can become part of our family, she can keep on dreaming!

Even though Eleanor’s heart was dead set on Natalie, she knew she couldn’t completely control Gregory’s choices.

He’d already stood up to her once at the hospital over Anathea. And now, he’d even publicly declared her as his wife.

When Eleanor had seen that announcement on the screen, she’d almost exploded with rage. She had no idea what kind of spell Anathea had cast over him.
