Why the Crocodile Tears (by Flower Sock) novel Chapter 182

There was definitely something different about Hannah now, but ominic didn’t hate it. In fact, he thought this softer version of her was exactly how she would be if she ever became a mother.

Dominic found himself, for just a second, imagining her holding their child.

Hannah could feel his gaze glued to her, and it made her incredibly nervous. Her heart was pounding like crazy. She was terrified he’d pick up on something.

When he stayed quiet for a while, she cautiously asked, Is something wrong?

No.Dominic finally snapped out of it.

Hannah breathed a silent sigh of relief and lowered her eyes, glad that he didn’t push it. If he had, she honestly wouldn’t have known how to cover it up.

But then, Dominic placed his hand on her stomach, rubbing it gently through the thin fabric.

His voice came from right above her head. Hannah,

you going to get pregnant?

Hannah froze. She caught something different in his tonea hint of urgency. It confused her. Why was he so desperate for a kid? The thought was swirling in her mind, and before she could stop herself, she looked him in the eyes and blurted out, Why do you want a kid so badly?

The moment the words left her mouth, she could feel the air change. Dominic’s hand stopped moving.

The heat in the room hadn’t disappeared, but somehow the temperature felt as if it had dropped. Moonlight spilled in through the window, casting a cold, silvery sheen over the floor.

It’s just a business deal. You don’t need to know the details,Dominic replied flatly, pulling his hand back. It was obvious that he didn’t like that Hannah had overstepped.

At that moment, the faint glimmer in Hannah’s eyes slowly faded. A bitter smile tugged at the corner of her lips.

Right. This was just a deal. Nothing more.

She’d already stopped expecting anything else a long time ago anyway.

Okay,she answered softly.

Dominic seemed pleased with how obedient and docile she was tonight. He reached out and ruffled her hair almost gently. It’s late. You can stay here if you want.

He never usually let her stay the night. Offering her to stay now counted as him being nice.

But Hannah just sat up without hesitation and started getting dressed. Despite the soreness in her legs, she moved steadily.

I should go,she said, not even thinking about staying. With that she walked out the door without looking back.

Dominic watched her leave, his eyes narrowing slightly, but he quickly looked away.

Right then, his phone rang. It was his secretary, Finn Mahoney.

Mr. Lancaster, Mr. Sinclair is requesting the security footage from around Syntherra Central Hospital.

Dominic immediately understood what Gregory was after. He’d cooperated last time. But this time, he glanced at the half- empty box of pills and pretended to hesitate.

Tell him that, unfortunately, the surveillance system around there had a glitch. I’ve already got people working on recovering the data. I’ll make sure he gets a satisfactory answer soon. I hope he understands.
