Chapter 271
Faced with Gregory’s questioning gaze, Anathea pressed her lips together.
Was she still afraid of him?
Of course.
Her silence already gave Gregory the answer.
His brows furrowed even deeper as he pressed on, “Why are you afraid of me?”
Anathea was silent for a while before letting out a breath. “Because you have no empathy.”
Actually, “heartless” was what she wanted to say.
She’d originally planned to act as though she hadn’t seen anything but Gregory’s indifference and the way he used violence without hesitation made it impossible for her to ignore it.
How could anyone not be afraid of a man like that? How could anyone not want to avoid him?
Even though she said it tactfully, Gregory still understood and scoffed lightly. “You feel sorry for Michael?”
“I’m just speaking based on the facts,” Anathea answered calmly.
Sometimes she wondered how someone as ruthless as Gregory had won the unwavering loyalty of everyone at Sinclair Group
“So, in your eyes, I’m just someone who has no empathy and compassion?” Gregory asked, his tone heavy.
He suddenly found it strange that her view of him made him uncomfortable. He didn’t even know why he cared so much about how Anathea saw him when he never used to care about that before.
Maybe it was because he felt something for her now. That was what people always said–once one had feelings for someone, they would start to care about how the other person saw them.
Anathea didn’t respond. She’d said enough. If the conversation went any further, she was afraid he’d take his anger out on her. She didn’t want to bear that again.
She could’ve just turned a blind eye, but the way she was raised made her too prone to empathizing with others. Adam had always been someone who thought of others first. Under his influence, she’d developed a deeply sensitive heart.
Anathea and Gregory were fundamentally different. They had completely opposite personalities, which meant they weren’t destined to walk the same path.
Suddenly, the car fell into silence.
Dexter glanced at the two in the rearview mirror–where he saw both Gregory and Anathea wearing cold expressions- couldn’t help but shiver.
Nearly 20 minutes passed, and no one said another word.
As the car drove through the gates of Sinclair Villa, Martin was already waiting outside.
Once Gregory stepped out, Martin approached him quickly. “Mr. Sinclair, regarding the previous project with Rowan Group…”
As soon as Anathea heard the company mentioned, her steps slowed.
Gregory caught her subtle movement from the corner of his eye but did nothing about it, allowing Martin to continue.
“The agreed delivery date was one week ago. Because Michael came to plead with you twice, you extended the deadline by six days. However, they still failed to fulfill their promise, so the contract was terminated yesterday.”
Anathea was stunned.

So, Gregory had already given Michael two chances?
Her gaze toward Gregory changed slightly.
“Mr. Sinclair, the legal department is also asking if we should pursue them for breach of contract damages.”
