Chapter 307
Everyone present was startled and let out sharp screams.
But Gregory reacted swiftly. He dodged to the side and kicked Michael hard in the abdomen.
Michael collapsed to the ground, groaning in pain.
The sudden attack ended instantly due to Gregory’s incredible reflexes. It was a display of utter strength and skill.
Meanwhile, people around them recognized Michael.
“Isn’t that the CEO of Rowan Group? I heard after Rowan Group’s contract with Sinclair Group got terminated, things went downhill for the company, and it eventually went bankrupt.”
“That’s not even the worst. I heard his child died from lack of treatment money, and his wife went crazy. The day before yesterday, she jumped off the hospital rooftop when the nurses weren’t looking.”
“My gosh. His company went bankrupt, and he lost his child and wife one after another. That’s just tragic.”
Anathea stood quietly, watching Michael’s face, which seemed to have aged decades. A wave of conflicting emotions stirred in her heart.
Michael’s bloodshot, murky eyes fixed on her, and suddenly he smiled.
Then, summoning all his strength, he got up and lunged at Anathea with the sharp pair of scissors.
Everyone gasped in panic.
Anathea felt as if cement had been poured over her feet. She couldn’t move at all. Shock filled her eyes.
At that moment, a strong arm wrapped around her protectively, and Gregory firmly caught the sharp scissors aiming for her. Bright red blood dripped from his palm, splattering onto the floor.
Anathea’s heart skipped a beat. “Gregory…”
“Don’t look. You’ll get scared,” Gregory said gently as he pressed her face into his chest. But when he looked at Michael, the warmth in his eyes vanished, replaced by a blizzard of fury.
Before Michael could react, Gregory snatched the scissors from his hand, twisted the blade, and plunged its sharp tip mercilessly into Michael’s thigh.
Michael screamed in agony behind Anathea.
Her eyelashes trembled as she closed her eyes. Her fingers curled into a tight fist.
Moments later, footsteps approached, followed by the murmur of voices.
Anathea’s heart pounded wildly in her chest. She couldn’t make out what they were saying.
She only caught Gregory’s cold, emotionless voice as he said, “Throw him in jail. Don’t let him ever see the light of day again.”
Those people dragged Michael away. His voice, full of hatred, echoed, “Gregory, I will never spare you even if I die! One day, I’ll make you feel what it’s like to lose someone important to you!”
His hoarse shout was filled with bitterness and defiance, sending chills through everyone who heard it.
But Gregory remained expressionless. His tone was flat as he said, You won’t get that chance.”
Because from then on, Michael would be trapped behind bars, never to see daylight again.
Nearly ten seconds later, Anathea’s frantic heartbeat finally calme. She opened her eyes and looked up.
