“Two months ago,” Gregory replied calmly, marking the parts he considered important in the book and jotting, notes beside them.

“Two… months ago?” Louie blinked, looking completely stunned,

He’d only been out of the country for a little while–what the hell had he missed?

On the other hand, Adrian wasn’t that surprised.

After all, two months ago, when Gregory found out Anathea had left a divorce agreement along with the news that she was pregnant before disappearing–Adrian was the one who had to step in and clean up the mess Gregory had left after losing his mind in the office.

He could still picture Gregory sitting on the floor, legs sprawled out His hands were bleeding from the thorns of a rosebush, muttering Anathea’s name over and over again. He acted like a dog abandoned on the side of the road.

At the time, Adrian realized something–before he understood love, Gregory was distant and unfeeling, like a man made of stone. But once emotions found their way in, even that hollow heart of his started to come alive.

And Anathea had become the soft spot he could never cut out, no matter what.

To be fair, he believed Gregory was well aware that in a cutthroat family like the Sinclairs, having a weakness was dangerous.

But Gregory still let Anathea fill him piece by piece.

The saying, “Even heroes couldn’t pass the test of love,” must have been meant for men like Gregory.

Adrian let out a quiet sigh.

Louie, clueless to all this, gave Adrian a puzzled look. “What’s with you?”

Gregory suddenly looked up. “She’s had no appetite lately. She feels nauseous no matter what she eats. Is there any way to ease that?”

Louie paused, giving him a weird look. “You’re seriously asking a top neurosurgeon that question?”

He wasn’t an OB–GYN, for God’s sake!

Gregory shot him a look, one that clearly said, “You’re so clueless.”

Louie couldn’t let that slide. “Wait here. I’ll get one of my colleagues over right now. What, you think I don’t have connections?“*

Adrian couldn’t help but laugh at Louie’s childish competitiveness. Louie and Theo were the same type. However, Theo had mellowed out lately, which left Louie as their last source of comic relief,

“But she’s still early in the pregnancy, right? Even if she’s not eating much, it should be enough for the embryo. It shouldn’t be a problem.”

Louie really didn’t get why Gregory was so worried.

Gregory closed the book. “You think I’m asking about the baby? I only care about her. Everything else is secondary.”

Louie looked genuinely surprised. “I thought you cared more about the baby.”

Gregory didn’t respond.

To him, the baby was just a bonus. Anathea was the one he’d always wanted. He could learn to love a child because of Anathea, but not the other way around.

Just then, his phone rang. It was a call from Martin.
