Gregory paused as he met Theo’s shocked and furious gaze. “Yes,” he replied coldly and decisively.

Adrian froze for a moment, though subtly.

“Gregory, are you out of your mind?” Theo shouted.

He’d expected Gregory to be enraged after Anathea insisted on escaping that day, but he’d never imagined Gregory would go

this far.

“You’re restricting her freedom, cutting her off from the outside world. What do you take her for? Do you think she’s a bird to be locked in a cage like this?” Theo gritted his teeth.

If Gregory weren’t so badly injured, Theo would’ve punched him without hesitation. He’d never seen Gregory act this insane. “Well, if you have a better solution, feel free to tell me. Can you guarantee that she’ll be able to handle it once she learns what’s happened to Adam?” Gregory shot back coldly.

That one sentence shut Theo up. He couldn’t argue; he could only breathe deeply. But he still couldn’t swallow the anger, so he slammed a fist into the wall. “Damn it!”

He could already picture the look of utter despair on Anathea’s face if she found out about it. If that was the case, maybe it really was better that she didn’t know anything.

“Enough. What’s done is done. Arguing won’t change anything now.” Adrian stepped in to mediate.

Seeing the two of them still on edge, he added helplessly, “If you really want Anathea to hear about it right now, then by all means, keep shouting.”

At that, Gregory and Theo finally looked away from each other.

“I’ll go get the car!” Theo stormed off.

Adrian watched him leave and said in a low voice, “Mr. Lancaster said he’ll handle everything in Syntherra.”

“Alright,” Gregory responded flatly, though his voice carried a chilling edge. “She touched what’s mine. I’m going to make her return every cent of the money she’s been pocketing all these years.”

“And what about Charlotte?” Adrian asked. He’d heard Charlotte had stirred up quite a bit of trouble at the hospital and the private chapel.

“Uncle Jackson’s mistress had a son, right? And he’s planning to bring his son to the Sinclair residence. Tell her the good news.” Gregory’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Jackson Sinclair was Charlotte’s husband and Gregory’s uncle.

“She’s probably going to tear the house apart when she hears that, Adrian said, amused just imagining Charlotte’s reaction. “That’s exactly what I want her to do.” Gregory recalled the plaques at the private chapel, his eyes narrowing even more. “I want her to burn all that garbage down in one big fire.”

Adrian said nothing. Seeing the shadowy expression on Gregory’s face, he seemed to understand what Gregory was planning.

If Gregory really became head of the Sinclair family, his first act would be to strike down the so–called ancestors.

He’d been suppressed by the heavy, rigid rules of the family for far too long–and Anathea, without a doubt, was the spark that lit the fuse.

After Gregory and Theo left, Adrian took the elevator to the third floor and knocked on the door.

“Come in.” Anathea’s calm voice came from inside.

Adrian pushed open the door, seeing that the room was dim.

Anathea was sitting on the low couch by the window, holding a book in her hands. But it looked like she had only flipped through a few pages–she hadn’t really been reading. Instead, she been gazing out at the sunset the whole time.

Adrian turned on the light, brightening the din room.
