Chapter 2424
Luna furrowed her brows in surprise.
"Those people...kidnapped Sean and Kate while they were under your watch?"
Luke's expression darkened upon hearing this.
He shifted into a comfortable position in his chair, placed his arm elegantly on the back of the chair, then shot Luna a cold glance.
"Why are you so shocked?"
He glanced at the glass window, which offered a full view of Kate in the next room, being examined by the doctors, and said calmly, "I've already told Jim and Joshua about Kate's true identity, so surely you must know, too?"
Luna paused for a moment, then nodded. She had indeed heard Joshua and the rest mention Kate's background before.
Kate had hailed from a rich and noble family from Europa, and even though she had left her home country, her family had secretly been keeping tabs on her.
If they found out that she had gone missing or had been kidnapped, they would fly to Merchant City and would not cease to turn the entire place upside down in search of her.
This was why Jim and Joshua had been so anxious about finding her after Luke revealed her true identity to them.
"Since you know her identity, you should know that I'd never let my guard down when it comes to protecting her."
A year ago, Luke had been forced to buy illegal firearms from Kate's family to win his territorial fight against the gangsters of Merchant City.
Because of this, he owed them a favor and was forced to take Kate in when she needed his help.
Despite her small stature, she was a woman with strong opinions.
Initially, Luke thought she had come to Merchant City out of curiosity and would return home after a while, but to his surprise, she had chosen to remain by his side even a year later.
In two more months, she would have been with him for a full year, and he had planned to send her home to Europa then.
Clearly, the universe had other ideas.
"Your men had been protecting Kate and Sean all this while?"

The readers' comments on the novel: Will you marry me, My Ex-Wife (Luna and Joshua)
Luna is sooo stupid!...
This story line is sickening… her children, Nellie in particular, do not like Malcolm. She is already married to Joshua, the father of her children who loves her more than Malcolm ever could. Just disgusting....
Another “misunderstanding”…… poor Luna, why can’t she just say the Quinns kidnapped me instead of assuming Joshua is doing the wrong thing. Terrible....
I sure hope Aura gets arrested and pays for her many crimes soon, along with Adrian and Michael. Joshua and Luna need peace with their children....
Joshua is stupid, he says he loves Luna but refuses to tell her the truth thinking he can never recover from all the deceit, if he told the truth he could redeem himself and live a happy life with his family rather than continue to protect a bunch of evil criminals. Terrible decisions by a man who is smart enough to run a multi faceted company....
Omg this author is twisted!! When does Luna catch a break! This is awful. Aurasnd Fiona are evil, evil women and are using the children to commit their crimes 🤬...
And now the author has made it sound like he cares more for Fiona who he has only known a couple of weeks than Luna, his wife, the love of his life. Stupid and pathetically disgusting....
Wow, making Joshua out to be so stupid, ugh. Yes he told this horrible bitch he would accompany her until she died, but she lied about her fake illness so I guess he’ll have to live with her forever! He also promised to love, honor and cherish his wife Luna however seems to forget that with each passing malicious mistress, Aura, Alice and now Fiona. Awful. Let’s get past this into some storyline that involves some happiness for Luna… the only woman who truly cares for and loves him. Get rid of Fiona, soon....
So disgusted with this Fiona storyline, hope it doesn’t last much longer. Joshua told her when they made the deal he had someone in his heart and would not sleep with her. They could be faking a relationship and he doesn’t have to be so nasty to Luna and the kids. It’s heartbreaking and giving him another ridiculous relationship is unnecessary. Just makes more misunderstandings for Luna and harder for her to forgive him....
Joshua is in the wrong, even if Fiona asked him to keep their fake relationship a secret he should have told Luna what was going on. After all, supposedly he lives Luna and the children and is doing this for them. Being deceiving is not working for him....
