Winning Her Heart Back (Emelie and William) novel Chapter 848

Ashley had to admit that his antics lifted the weight from her chest.

She exhaled and pressed her lips together. "Stop treating me like a child."

Elias was the master of mischief. "Well, since you've chosen to be called 'babe' instead of 'Ash' or 'honey', I'll start calling you that from now on. I respect your decision."

Ashley glared at him. "I'll rip your mouth off if you call me that."

Elias laughed and kissed the corner of her lips. This time, Ashley didn't pull away.

His gaze softened. "Sit tight. I'm going to get us some water."

Her lips were starting to chap. "Okay."

The vending machine was down another hallway. Elias selected two bottles of peach-flavored drinks.

Beathan suddenly appeared, staring at him with a cold expression. "Elias, you're just using sweet talk to deceive Ashley."

Elias didn't even bother looking at him. He casually scans the payment code on the vending machine. "How I treat my wife is none of your business."

Beathan couldn't hold back his frustration. "She hasn't truly overcome her inner demons! You're just covering her ears to block out reality, scratching at the surface without addressing the real issue!"

Elias chuckled. "I don't get it. Why does she even need to overcome those demons?"

The vending machine clattered as it dispensed the drinks, but Elias didn't rush to pick them up. Instead, he turned to Beathan.

He said, "Some people, like you, face what you call obstacles or difficulties. Instead of realizing they're just tiny bumps that don't really matter in your journey of life, your first instinct is to force yourself to overcome them... Why can't you just go around them? Why insist on suffering through it?"

Beathan scoffed. "That's nonsense!"

Elias smirked. "That's why I'm happy, and you're not.
