Wooing My ex-wife (Gwendolyn and Maverick) novel Chapter 436

At the same time, an enticing scene unfolded in the bedroom of Treyton’s villa.

The white sheer curtains were tightly drawn together. They were adorned with a soft circle of yellow fairy lights, which added a touch of romantic warmth to them.

Treyton lay on top of Jennifer with a besotted look on his face. His breathing was slightly uneven as he gently caressed her tender cheek with his fingertips.

In his alluring deep voice, he asked softly, “Do you still want to break up with me?”

Jennifer shook her head obediently. “No. I can’t bear to.”

Satisfied with her answer, Treyton kissed her lips again.

Pushing him away, she grumbled, “Not now. I’m tired.”

Treyton rolled over and rested his back against the headboard. With the sheets covering half of his bare body, his toned abdominal muscles that glistened with sweat looked all the more seductive.

He pulled Jennifer into his arms and said seriously, “Jennifer, I hope you can confront your inner fears and try to visit the Newton residence a few times. I admit I have ulterior motives. If your identity as the Newton family’s daughter is publicly announced, we can get married officially. Everyone will bless us, and there won’t be any doubts or questions. Even if it’s for our future, I hope you can give it a try. But rest assured that I will never give up on you no matter what. I will face all your fears with you.”

Jennifer remained silent for a long while.

After calming down and thinking about it, she found that she was able to understand Treyton’s intentions.

She decided to give it a try.

“Okay. I promise I will call Craig and go back to the Newton residence once I have some free time in the next few days.”

Satisfied with the answer, Treyton kissed her forehead.

Jennifer sighed. Every time the Newton family was brought up, she would be reminded of the incident when she was attacked on the top floor.

“Trey, do you remember the last time I went back to the Newton residence for a few days to help Gwendolyn find proof that Charles is an illegitimate child?”

Treyton nodded. “Of course. You didn’t want to go back there after that visit.”

Jennifer sat up from his embrace and looked at him seriously. “On the night I obtained the photos, something terrifying happened.”

Treyton frowned slightly. “It’s been so long. Why didn’t you mention it?”

“Because Craig told me that it was my imagination at that time, and I couldn’t remember it clearly either. Besides, I didn’t tell anyone about it because it is a private matter of the Newton family.”

“What happened that night?”

Jennifer lowered her head and fell into deep thought. Then, she began to recount the incident in detail.

“Craig set a rule for the top floor of the Newton residence, stating that it will be locked at night and no one is allowed to go up there. However, the top floor is where my father’s study and my mother’s bedroom are located.

“That night, I climbed up the wall from the window downstairs and entered my father’s study. I managed to steal the photos, but someone attacked me with an ashtray from behind and even choked me. The person really wanted to kill me.

“The study was dimly lit that night, and I could vaguely see the person’s eyes through the moonlight. They were bloodshot and filled with murderous intent like a terrifying demon from hell. And there was a horrifying voice roaring in my ear, saying, ‘Why are you alive? You’re the symbol of humiliation. You should die…”‘

Treyton listened attentively, feeling incredulous.

“I can’t believe this happened… Other than the person’s eyes, do you remember the person’s appearance? Was it a man or a woman?”

Jennifer closed her eyes and tried to recall.

After a while, she shook her head. “I can’t remember.”

Treyton pulled her into his embrace again as he gently reassured her, “If this incident is not just a figment of your imagination but a real experience, then this is something very serious. Someone is imprisoned on the top floor of the Newton residence, and we don’t know how long it has been.”

Jennifer nodded. “Yeah. I’ve always had suspicions about whether it is my mother whom I have never met before. Have you ever met her, Trey?”

“Yes, I have. But Mrs. Newton doesn’t seem to go out often, and she never attends social events with other prominent ladies. She has only been seen at the Newton family’s charity gala.” Treyton paused for a moment before continuing, “However, I have seen her quite a few times, and she appeared to be in good condition. She was gentle, elegant, and had an excellent temperament. She didn’t seem like the crazy person you just described.”

Jennifer’s expression turned serious. “That’s strange. The butler told me that only my mother lived on the top floor. If it wasn’t her, then who could it be?”
