Wooing My ex-wife (Gwendolyn and Maverick) novel Chapter 446

The slap was not too hard, and it carried with it a hint of affection.

Gwendolyn’s eyes crinkled as she looked at him. “Excuse me? Just exactly who’s the one getting tortured? Didn’t you promise me four hundred and fifty-nine push-ups? Are you going to go back on your word?” She smacked his butt again. “Come on. You made a promise.”

Cedrick got into the perfect push-up form again by straightening his tired and trembling arms.

“Three hundred and fifty-seven. Carry on.” Gwendolyn’s voice sounded behind him.

Realization finally dawned on Cedrick. She knew the number all along and was playing with me on purpose. Hmph! What a bad woman.

He shook his head helplessly. Well, there’s nothing I can do about it. She’s the wife I put so much effort into getting back. I’ve got to dote on her no matter what.

“Three hundred and fifty-eight.”

That morning, the sound of Cedrick counting the number of push-ups came from the room.

Zoey would occasionally cast the tightly shut door a suspicious glance whenever she passed it by.

Nonetheless, she knew it was inappropriate to ask about the couple’s private matters.

Over in the bedroom, Cedrick could be heard forcing the words out breathlessly. “Four hundred… and fifty-nine…”

As if he had accomplished a mission, Cedrick let out a sigh and slumped weakly to the ground.

I don’t want to do push-ups again for the rest of my life.

Gwendolyn got up and spotted a darker patch on his black pants.

She chuckled in amusement. “Ceddy, you must’ve sweated a lot. Even your butt’s wet.”

Cedrick touched the wet spot, only to see a red stain on his fingers.

He turned around in bewilderment and noticed Gwendolyn’s pale complexion.

“Gwenny, it’s your b-blood…”

The smile on Gwendolyn’s face vanished as she stared at his fingers unblinkingly. She rubbed her belly and quickly realized something.

No wonder my waist felt so sore. It’s the period’s fault.

She had not had her period ever since she became pregnant, so much so that she had forgotten the existence of periods.

An embarrassed laugh escaped her throat. “Sorry for dirtying your pants, Ceddy. But it looks like you won’t be able to have fun for another six days or so. You should accept your fate.”

Cedrick had no intentions of complaining. He got to his feet despite feeling drained from the push-ups and carried her to the bathroom. They showered together and changed into a clean set of pajamas.

Five minutes later, Gwendolyn’s belly was beginning to ache.

When did it come? Would the sex have any effect on it?

The period pain awakened every nerve in her body.

Cedrick helped her to the bed and tucked her in.

Soon, pain and drowsiness got the better of her.

She curled up into a ball, her brows furrowed and her eyes shut tightly as she endured the discomfort that made her dizzy.

Cedrick had made her a cup of chamomile tea. He blew on it and brought the cup to her lips.

Still, the pain was not relieved.

Cedrick sat by the bed, feeling anxious and helpless at the same time. If only I could help her bear the pain.

“Gwenny, why don’t you take some painkillers?”

Despite feeling dizzy, Gwendolyn shook her head without hesitation upon hearing his suggestion. “I’m still breastfeeding. The babies need me. I can’t simply take medicines or it’ll affect them.”

“But you can’t keep enduring it like that.”

Gwendolyn responded weakly, “It’s okay. I’ll only have to bear with it for a while. I’ll be fine after a nap…”

Cedrick let out a sigh. He could not bear to see her suffer, but there was nothing he could do when she insisted on not taking painkillers.

He looked up on the internet for solutions. After reading the suggestions given by the netizens, he quickly brought her a warm water bottle.
