Jennifer looked up innocently and met Treyton's gaze.
“I don't think I'm suited for acting. That's why I hope to step away from the entertainment industry and take some time to figure out what I want in life. I want to choose a suitable path for myself.”
Treyton heaved a sigh of relief.
Oh, thank goodness... So long as she isn't breaking off our engagement or leaving me, I'll give her whatever she wants, even if it includes plucking the stars from the sky!
“Sure. You have my word. Don't worry. I won't force you to make any choices. After all, you're only twenty-one years old and have zero acting experience. You have every right to reconsider your career options,” he replied before holding a hand out to Jennifer, his gaze warm and gentle. “I'll settle things with the production team for you. Anyway, you ought to get some rest after a tiring day. May I take you home?”
Jennifer stared at the man's hand for the longest time but didn't move a muscle.
Thankfully, Treyton had all the patience in the world and didn't mind waiting for her answer.
Jennifer, on the other hand, was struggling with her emotions. Oh, dear. What should I do? Treyton may be the epitome of a wealthy, handsome bachelor, but he's also like a stranger to me. Besides, I've never dated before and can't see myself being intimate with him. Sadly, I can't change the fact that everyone already knows he's my fiancé. After all, news of our relationship was trending on social media for three days straight... I should at least give it a try, shouldn't I? Who knows? I might learn to accept him.
Jennifer slowly stretched out her hand and placed it in Treyton's.
Naturally, the latter was overwhelmed with joy. As a contented smile tugged at his lips, he helped the woman to her feet and led her out of the film set.
Hmm... What if I threw caution to the wind and carried her? Would she be angry? I guess I wouldn't know unless I tried...
Just then, Treyton stopped in his tracks.
Jennifer, who had been walking behind with her head lowered, bumped into his back.
“Mr. Treyton?” she mumbled as she rubbed her forehead and looked up.
Alas, before she could say anything else, Treyton spun around and swept her into his arms.
“W-What are you doing?” Jennifer exclaimed.
“I don't want you to tire yourself out, so I've decided to carry you to the car,” Treyton replied, his voice so deep and charismatic that Jennifer could feel her heart thumping wildly.
“But there are so many people outside. I think you should put me down. I can walk on my own...”
Despite her pleas, Treyton continued to walk quickly and steadily.
“There's nothing wrong with me carrying my fiancée. You need to start getting used to this kind of treatment. In fact, you can also order me around if you like.”
A red-faced Jennifer instantly lowered her head, too embarrassed to resist further.
After carrying the young woman into the car, Treyton couldn't help but gaze fondly at her.
She was docile and adorable, and he couldn't be happier.
Over in Astoria, the night was dark and silent.
The presidential suite, however, was filled with a cacophony of breathless moans and grunts.
Just as Cedrick was about to initiate intimacy for the fifth time, Gwendolyn promptly placed her feet on his chiseled chest to stop him.
“Can you calm down? Do you know how many times we've done it tonight? How are you still not satisfied after four rounds?” she snapped as she glared at the man and prodded him harder.
Argh! He'd better behave and stay away from me!
“Do you not like that I'm so strong in bed?” Cedrick asked innocently.
Instead of replying, Gwendolyn gave him the stink eye. “I only want to sleep now. Tomorrow's the tender event, and I don't want you ruining my plans.”
“I won't,” Cedrick reassured before attempting to move in again. Alas, Gwendolyn's foot kept him at bay.
“Darling, even if you can't get out of bed tomorrow, I can always attend the event on your behalf. It's not like there will be any surprises in the results.”
