Chapter 612 Showing Off
Logan was stunned, his eyes slightly filled with fear. But he quickly regained his composure and said, “Mr. Jenson, there is no other truth to this matter. Do you think Old Mr. Jenson, who once ran the military world, would lie to you?”
Cedrick lowered his gaze and didn't reply. However, his icy expression was a clear display of his skeptical attitude toward this matter.
“Mr. Jenson...”
“You should go back, Logan. Tell Grandpa exactly what I said. He knows the answer I'm seeking for.”
“Mr. Jenson,” Logan repeated.
Cedrick simply got up and went back to his desk, then sat down quietly and began to work, acting as if Logan didn't exist.
It was obvious that Logan wasn't welcome there anymore, and it would be humiliating for him to stay any longer. He had no choice but to let out a long sigh and say, “I will convey your message to Old Mr. Jenson, and I might visit again today.”
Cedrick immediately frowned upon hearing that. He caught the keyword in Logan's statement, and his gaze became solemn as he watched Logan leave.
Before ten o'clock at night, a confession must be forced out of Yael. This is the deadline I've given him. Otherwise, Xander will be sent back to the previous cell.
And it seems that Grandpa wants Logan to understand the full story today since he's sending him back and forth.
He seems to know about every move I make in the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Are his former subordinates and confidants spying on me?
Cedrick fell into deep thoughts because of one simple sentence. All sorts of factors and causes began to disturb him in his mind, frustrating him.
Ding!
Suddenly, a short ringtone sounded. It was the sound of a WhatsApp message notification.
After giving his phone a casual glance and noticing the sender's name, “Darling Wife,” he instantly picked up the phone and checked his WhatsApp.
Gwendolyn texted: How's progress at the bureau? Do you want to have dinner together tonight?
Cedrick stared at the text message for a long while and thought about the things he had to do by that night. Given Yael's temperament, I'm afraid he won't compromise easily before the final moment.
Cedrick had no choice but to reject his beloved wife for once. He replied: I can't make it tonight. I'm working overtime. I'll make it up to you next time, Darling.
Gwendolyn: You're working overtime? Until what time?
Cedrick: I'll be done before twelve o'clock.
Gwendolyn: Are you planning to have a packed meal at the bureau?
Cedrick: Yeah...
After sending the message bitterly, Cedrick didn't receive a reply for a long time. Instantly, his heart sank even lower.
Gwenny is used to the meals I cook. She must be unhappy as I can't go home and cook for her tonight.
He sighed, feeling more determined to seek the truth of the matter.
I won't rest until I get the answer today.
An hour and a half later, at six o'clock in the evening, someone knocked on the door.
An officer from the detention center entered Cedrick's office.
“Speak.” Cedrick was in a bad mood, so his low voice was laced with a hint of fury.
The officer was momentarily stunned. He quickly answered, “Mr. Jenson, Mr. Yael didn't eat or drink any of the food and water we delivered to him. He gave it all to Mr. Xander.”
Cedrick was not surprised. “He only has one son. Of course he'll spoil him.”
“Other than that, they are putting on a show by hugging each other and acting like a pair of affectionate father and son. It seems that Mr. Yael doesn't plan to confess the truth.”
Cedrick's face darkened. He continued writing as he said, “Got it. Keep listening to them.”
“Yes, Mr. Jenson.”
As soon as the police officer left, the temperature in the office dropped by a few degrees.
Cedrick looked cold and terrifying, and he was writing faster and faster.
In his mind, the scene of Logan's visit kept replaying.
