Charles slowly pulled his luxury car over by the roadside. He couldn’t help but stare at Whitney
After she had bustled around for the entire day, deep fatigue lined her face.
As Charles recalled her bustling figure in the office, his hand subconsciously stroked her cheek and pinched the soft flesh.
After drifting off, Whitney slept for two hours straight. When she woke up, she was completely disoriented.
She promptly opened her eyes and realized she was still in the car. She quickly glanced to the side, only to be greeted by the sight of Charles resting with his eyes closed.
On instinct, she wiped the corner of her mouth, fearing that she might have done something ungraceful while asleep, such as drooling.
Sensing that the person beside him stirred slightly, Charles immediately opened his eyes. Turning to look at her, he asked in a hoarse voice, “You’re awake?”.
“Um, sorry. How long was I asleep?”
Outside, the sky had turned completely dark, leaving Whitney feeling somewhat lost.
Charles said calmly. “Two hours.”
Huh? Does that mean that he waited for me in the car for a whole two hours?
The light inside the car was dim, but with the illumination of the streetlights, Whitney could see that his cyes werebloodshot.
She even had his jacket draped over her. It was already thoroughly imbued with her scent then.
Having kept him waiting for so long. Whitney felt somewhat embarrassed.
“What were you planning to do with me? Was I keeping you back from something important?”
If she had rld Charles’ affairs up because of her drowsiness, it would be her mistake.
Charley restarted his luxury car without uttering a word, simply returning to the Newton residence.
After taking a shower at night, Whitney was just about to sleep with a blanket in hand when Charles stopped her “Sleep on the bed.”
Whitney was stunned for a second, seemingly not understanding his meaning, staring at him with confusion in her eyes.
Meeting her dazed and adorable gaze, Charles climbed out of bed and snagged the blanket from her hands.
“Sleep beside me. Got it now?”
Sleep beside him?
Whitney was stumped. “I think I’ll sleep on the sofa. I wake up early, so I might disrupt you” You’re disrupting me right now.”
At that, words cluded Whitney.
A look of dissatisfaction showed on Charles’s face. He pulled her onto the bed and lay down.
His hand rested on her lower abdomen. Whitney involuntarily stiffened for fear that any movement might upset him.
That was her first time lying down next to him while fully conscious.
Staring at the bedside lamp, she felt a sudden wave of unease wash over her.
My heart is being so fast that if it weren’t for the blanket holding it down, it might just leap out of my chest, huh?
Thump!
Thump, thump!
The room fell silent. It was so quiet that they could clearly hear each other’s breathing and even heartbeats. Despite it being past midnight, Whitney showed no signs of sleepiness.
She couldn’t possibly fall asleep when Charles was sleeping beside her for once.
Nonetheless, she remained silent.
Charles shares her sentiments.
Her heartbeat was just too loud that it was keeping him from falling asleep.
Her scent was delightful, compelling him to inhale the fragrance of her hair.
Charles really didn’t like how she could affect his mood, yet he couldn’t help but want to get closer to her.
Such a feeling left him somewhat irritated, but unexpectedly, he found a bit of enjoyment in it.
